Odds Standardization & Discussion

This thread is to discuss ways to make the odds more standardized and realistic for all events. You can also ask for opinions on what the odds should be for a specific event that might not have posted odds.

Here is the basic way that odds should be calculated if an event has a moneyline posted. I'll use Florida vs. Butler as an example.

First get the moneyline from a site like this:
http://www.pointspread.com/liveodds/index.php?sport=cbb&page=1&ltype=2&getmonth=03&get day=23&getyear=2007

For this example I'll use the bodog moneyline but you can use one of the other sites or come up with your own as long as it is close to what is posted. So here is the moneyline posted for that game at the time I checked:
Butler +525
Florida -750

Now you can do the math yourself to covert the moneyline into ratio odds or you can use one of these sites that has an odds converter:
Odds Converter
Dr.Punter - First Aid To Betting | Odds Converter | Convert EU, UK, US Odds, Prices

So by using one of the above tools I see that the odds for this game should look something like this:
Butler 21/4
Florida 2/15

Obviously Florida is the heavy favorite and what the odds mean in terms of vcash is that you would have to bet 4 vcash on butler to win 21 and you would have to bet 15 vcash on florida to win 2. Doing it like this will make odds more realistic and avoid big payouts for picking heavy favorites.

Good Luck to all!
