New York Giants Prior to BCS release SEC does it to selves again

With Auburn taking Fla out of the undefeated ranks the SEC is in process of knocking each other off. SEC will no longer make it to BCS championship game. The toughest conference in all of the NCAA football will not be represented in Championship series because the talent level makes it impossible for teams to make it through the season unscathed.

Quit fooling yourselves. First off, it's really hard to know where the conferences stand in relation to each other. You might think that it's the quality and depth of the SEC that causes the teams to be beat each other up, but it might just be parity. In the Big Ten, Michigan and Ohio State are going to run the table until the final week, but Wisconsin and Penn State are also quality teams that are just a notch below in talent. There's really know way to know how Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State stack up against Auburn, Florida, Arkansas and Georgia, because it is rare for the top teams in each conference to play each other during the year.

Secondly, the SEC isn't out of the running yet. Auburn is #4 in the BCS. USC is a very overrated team, and is almost certain to drop a game against Oregon, Cal or Notre Dame the way they've been playing the last three weeks. The computers really don't want West Virginia or Louisville in the national championship game, even if they run the table, and one of Ohio State or Michigan has to lose a game.

The way I see - if Michigan wins a squeaker against Ohio State in the final week of the season, Ohio State might end up dropping from #1 to #2, and the game could be replayed as the national championship. Who knows what is going to happen between now and December though.

The BCS is somewhat of a mess. I say drop the twelth game from the schedule, start a week earlier in the summer, and have the top eight teams play in a championship series.

Don't count Auburn and Florida out of the BCS championship just yet, though. Both schedules have a very tough schedule, and if either team can win out, it might just be enough to edge in ahead of a 12-0 West Virginia, Louisville or Rutgers squad.

Even though you make a few valid point does an undefeated Auburn team two years ago being frozen out of championship contention ring a bell??? I have listened to East Coast Bias from USC,U Dub and Cal fans over last three to five years but USC has been in the last 3 Nat Champ games.....Big 12 has 3 - 4 class teams every year Big 10 usually 2 maybe 3 the pac 10 has USC and thats pretty much it but they have been there 3 seasons in a row while the SEC has 6-8 Great teams every year yet never even considered
