Pittsburgh Steelers Pac-12?

I heard that the PAC-10 was looking into getting 2 teams more for the conference. I think the idea is a good one. If we have a conference championship game it will help gain respect in the bcs.

funny, i didn't think anyone outside my circle of friends thought about this. where/who is discussing this? the biggest argument can be made that it will indeed help the pac as far as bcs "cred". split the conference into a north/south and play a championship game at the end would be ideal i would think.

Pittsburgh Steelers

i just heard it from some people in Oregon. Boise State would be my first choice. Utah would be an awesome addition. even Fresno State they are doing farely well but recruiting sucks because they are in a crappy conference. The Pac gets no respect and we went 5-0 in the bowls and no one cares. I think they would be crazy not to make serious effort.

Utah/TCU/Fresno/Boise would all have to raise their academic standards significantly and it's not likely that they could only move their FB program and I doubt they'd want their BBall programs in the Pac-10.

The other thing people forget is that in 10 years Utah could very well go 0-12 and people would be clamoring for whoever the next BCS buster turns out to be to replace them.

Oh I don't know, Penn State joined the Big Ten thinking it was gonna be a cake walk for their football program. Suffice to say that hasn't been the case, but the other programs for which they're weak in {basketball, wrestling, etc} have benefited from the alliance. The same thought might benefit BSU, Utah's weaker programs. Then again they could take the Notre Dame route and just add one sport for conference affiliation.

The academic standards would still be a big problem.

Their academic standards are that much lower than the Oregon, Arizona or Washington schools?

You can forget about Boise State joining the Pac 10. It will never happen. Their stadium is much to small. Their athletec program as a whole is not strong, and as previously mentioned, their academic standards are too low. Utah certainly qualifies. Their athletec program is good enough overall. Their stadium is big enough.

A second team is a bit more difficult. TCU is out. Way too far. Fresno State is a bit iffy. They would be borderline acceptable. It depends on how much the Pac 10 wants to expand. With a new Commish, things may change.

You, sir, are about as clueless as they come. Truly you are. A. Boise State already competes in the PAC 10 - in the sport of WRESTLING - a sport you claim Boise State is "weak" in........B. Boise State has won the PAC 10 championships in wrestling for the last two years and will likely win it again next season. Additionally Boise State finished 12th in the nation at the 2009 NCAA wrestling tournament.

C. Boise State had SEVEN athletic teams that finished their respective seasons ranked in the top 25 in the nation in their respective sport during the 2008-2009 school year. Boise State not only has great football teams but also great wrestling teams (FIVE PAC 10 CHAMPIONSHIPS in the last 10 years in wrestling), but also great Tennis teams (both men's & women's) and great men's Track & Field teams, etc., etc., etc.

I repeat - you, sir, are CLUELESS. At least when it comes to Boise State that is.
