Pete Rose confession

Pete Rose admitted today on Dan Patrick that he did indeed bet on his team on nights they played a game. I am gald he admitted it, we all knew it was true. Do you think Baseball will now do what is right and place him in the HOF, or will this only fuel the fire to keep him out?

My opinion, obviously, is that he belongs in the Hall. While it was sorry and he deserves the ridicule he gets for it, he was a Hall of Fame player.

Agree a player should be judged on how they played on the field not off. He was a hall of famer due to his achievements as a player not as a coach.

I dont know a whole lot about it, but from what I've heard about the entire thing, I think he should still be in the hall...

did he shave points and bet on the other team or did he just bet on his own team?

He's never been accused of shaving points, and being the player he was I just can't see that. He was in love with winning and would probably opt to lose $$$$ before he kept a game close. I think he just got caught up in the nature of gambling as most compititive people do, and thought he could beat the books by betting on the team he had control over. He is arrogant enough to believe he can beat vegas by betting on a game he thinks he can win himself.

I figured. Some may disagree but I wouldn't care if players bet on their own team, as long as they dont shave and tank

Yeah I wont go that far... it's to much of a grey area. Think about plays like Buckner's play at first... could you imagine trying to explain that if you had money riding on the game. Every misplayed ball or strike out would be world news if players could place wagers on their sport.

If anything it solidifies him never making the HOF.

I can't believe it took this long for him to admit to something the entire baseball following world already knew about.

What's next...Bonds admitting he did take roids?

Anyways, i think admitting it paves the way to him being in the HOF someday. He was black listed because he would never admit it and the league was pissed off. Now that he has admitted to it, what do they have on him now? Nothing. Shaving points? bah.

I think he sort of implied that he was tricked into it, Bonds is a clown.

Figures youl'd say that . I used to love Baseball but ive learned to hate the politics of the sport. A hall of fame with no Rose, Mcgwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, Bonds etc... is not realy a hall of fame. Baseball is, was and always will be a holier than thou, White mans sport.

There's a fair share of latinos in there too.

Baseball is the slowest, most boring game out there. I like to keep an eye on it though, like watching the highlights and stuff like that.

Yeah, but those Latinos and Blacks are players, not the powers that be. Baseball is run by Devils of the worst kind most minority players of this generation will be overlooked completly for contribution's to the game.
