B-Ball/Mavs Thread

Last night the Mavericks set another record winning 51 out of 56 games in a single season. That's never been done in any profesional sport... ever. They are on pace to finish with one of the top 3 records of all time in NBA history, yet there are several (Experts) out there still picking the Suns or Spurs to win it all.

Is it the choke job last year in the Finals that has people scared to pick them, or is it out right disrespect for a team that was so bad for so long and just wont be taken seriously?

I think both of those are contributing factors, but I think the main factor is Cuban. Don't get me wrong I love having Cuban as an owner because he will do whatever it takes to win, but I think because of all his stupid childish antics he has become so hated everyone dreds the thought of him winning a Championship.

What do you think? if the mavs are the best team why the disrespect? and if not why do you think they wont win it all?

Season stats mean jack all when it comes to playoff time. It's all about how well you can get it done during crunch time in the playoffs, go look at every sport where a team leads in points and look at how many in the past 10yrs won the championship when leading the entire league in wins and points.

Apples to oranges... I am not talking about a team wining the regular season, I am talking about a team absolutly dominating and owning the regular season. To counter your point, no team has ever done what the Mavs are doing and NOT won the championship. This goes right back to my point of no respect for the Mavs... when the Bulls and Lakers did this they were just handed the trophy, now the Mavs are breaking those records and all the sudden it's just the regular season...

I've been a diehard Bulls fan since i was a kid, i don't really like the Suns. But i don't really see the Mavs as "that dominating" team you 2 see them as. Sure they are good but like i said, dominating the season means jack ****.

Not to hate on your team, but the sens were the top team in the NHL in the east how many times for wins and were contenders and never got past 1st round? If the Mavs win it all this year, well then good for them. But the way people count contenders is with the depth they have with guys that do well in the post season, maybe the "basketball guru's" see that sort of depth with the Suns moreso than the Mavs. I don't really care enough about either team to see that.

I'm more concerned with the Bulls and Raptors...i want one of them to win.

The Raptors are about a year ahead of where I expected them to be. After a 3 game losing streak they bounced back with a win tonight. Great too see a team play so well together. Bargnani & Bosh will be a hell of a front court combo to face in the coming years.

Raptors are ready this year to make some noise, more than they could make with Carter or T-Mac. I just wish Bosh didn't look soo much like a damn child out there with his skinny neck and tiny head.

I like how the Mavs got beat by Pheonix the other night, at least it shows who's the better team.

I hate Cuban...it scared the life out of me everytime i heard his name with the Penguins ownership. Thank god Mario Lemieux (a god to me as a kid) stuck with the ownership in the end.

Cuban is a nut job, he and his Mavs can suck it.

Dude Cuban is an idiot don't get me wrong, but look what he has done for the Mavs franchise... he only wants to win and he will spend whatever it takes to do so. You may not like him as an individual but as an owner you would love him. The Pengs would be skating the cup in no time.

There is a suprise team that wins the cup each year, Penguins might win it in less than 5 years.

With Cuban, he'd trade Malkin for Modano and a pick, he's that retarded. He trades young talent for old farts and thinks he's doing a good job. He pressures him GM to do such moves and he dabbles too much into his team's affairs. I hate that, you can't do that in the NHL and not look like a complete nut job like Wangster in NY. That guy is just off his rocker, eating some spiked mu shu pork.

Usually you post good stuff VCX, but you obviously don't know much about Cuban. He let Nash go because he thought he was to old for the contract he wanted... and brought in youth... even the HC is young. Look Cuban as a fan = of the rocker... Cuban as an Owner = best in the league.
