Little league football?

I wasn't sure where to put this question. But what is the age young kids can start playing football in your areas? I think in my area it is around 8 years old. My seven year old is already talking about wanting to play. Was just curious what the ages for starting in the different areas was.

5 is the earliest age here.

There are different divisions based on weight and age.

Never thought of the weight being an issue, but that makes sense. I guess I better look into exactly what our rules are on when you can start. Now to figure out where you would get that exact info?

I couldn't play Pop Warner because I was too big. It was traumatic.

Too young. In all places and in all sports. What's the deal anyway? What happened to playing in the backyard with the neighbors until you could go out for the team? Why is there such a need to schedule everything for kids now adays?

We actually have a smaller league for kids like 6-8 then they move up to the leagues a little more competitive. Our teams are good in our league, but if you are planning to go to college and get a career out of it, you would want to move somewhere else.

In my hometown, football is huge, and the last time I knew there were leagues to start playing when you were 8 years old. I think it's good, as long as the kid wants to play, but you have to be extra careful to watch for injuries. The leagues start out less competitive, but become more competitive with age.

I have a hard time believing the teams aren't competitive. I've seen some of those coaches and they are just CRAZY and don't even get me started on the parents.

Did you see that coach jack up that 13-year-old after he laid a late hit on his kid? Awesome.

No, you didn't see it? Or no, it wasn't awesome? If it's the former, here's a video of it. If it's the latter, well, I'll have to disagree.

To give you an idea of how crazy things have gotten, ESPN had to put the Little League World Series on a 5 second delay because some kid used the "f" word LIVE!

No way! Was the coach his dad? And if not, did they get the fight with the dad and coach on camera?

He slapped him? For real?

Now I know little league football, basketball, baseball . . . all of them need to be shelved until the adults get more mature.
