CFL 2007 Season Preview Thread

With camp around the corner, I thought I'd start up a preview thread. I'm going to do team previews and predictions over the next couple of weeks along with my Grey Cup selection.

Good Idea TC. I'll think up mind as well.

PS - Is Ottawa back in this year or no?

Nope, no Ottawa this year or next year. Apparently the CFL has some other irons in the fire but don't want to commit to Ottawa until they're sure they have the right ownership in place.

Well, I'm sort of on the fence about Ottawa:

1) They are an extra team which promotes the CFL

2) But on the other hand, they are one more team which throws off the two divisions, which would mean chances of getting into the playoffs in the west would be a little easier than getting into the playoffs in the east.

Pretty much every single game overall. Great part about an 8 team league is you can essentially see 90% of the games. Lions should be solid again this year, but they'd better watch their backs, the Stamps are fantastic IMO.

Very true, I'm calling a Lions vs. Alouettes Grey Cup.

Are you going to any games this summer TC?

Hopefully. I'd like to go to Toronto a couple of times for some games. I'll be interested too see how things break down. I'm not that hot on the Riders this season, and while Edmonton could rebound I think the Ti-Cats have improved to make a run at a playoff spot, so it could be all 4 East Teams along with the Stampeders and Lions in the playoffs. Can't see the Riders doing a ton without a kickass running back.

I don't really agree with your idea at with the Ti-Cats. Sure they have nowhere to go but up, but right now their staying down. There's no way the Ti-Cats get that playoff spot above the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg has an amazingly talented defense. I mean nobody can get past Canada (the player), he's an absolute beast!

I do agree with you that the 'Riders won't get in, and I really really hope the Eskimoes don't get in.

Stampeders will make it easily, their recieving core alone will get them in the playoffs. Burris has to deliver big time though.

Gaurenteed Teams: Lions, Stamps, Argos, Alouettes. The other 4 is all a guess.

I dont think the Cats will be ahead of Winnipeg, but they can still fight the Riders and Eskimos for that last playoff spot due to the crossover rule that would allow Hamilton to take the last spot in the West if they're better than Sask and Edmonton

The Riders will be just fine. They still will have a top defense and a strong and deep receiving corp. The o-line will be good again and Bracey and Fred Russell will be good power back to quick back changup combination. Joseph and Crandell can still get the job done if Joseph stays healthy.

I still think they struggle to make the playoffs. The Eskimos will be going gung ho to get back to the playoffs and in my mind the Stamps and Lions are a step ahead of the other two teams in the West. I'm probably being a homer with my views on Hamilton, but I think they'll be much improved and could surprise like the Bombers did last season.

Yes, please explain TC. I can't see the All's or the Argo's losing to the Bombers. And the Stamps do not have the same star power as Lions do, although they do have a large problem with the QB situation.
