Who Will Crash the BCS Party

Which non-BCS conference team has a chance to crash the BCS Bowl party this year? I can only see two, and neither have a great chance.

1. Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors have the best QB in college ball. They have plenty of help returining all 3 WR's. Their D is a siv, but it always has been. They do not play a Top 25 ranked team all year, and get a depleated Boise State team at home. Their schedule includes 7 home games, and they really do not play a threat on the road. The biggest minus is their terrible strength of schedule, which is NOT suppose to figure in the BCS standings, but always does. This is looking like a potential undefeated team that get's shut out of the BCS unless the BE, Big 12, or ACC can not field two teams with 0 or 1 loss. Remember, Hawaii is one of the worst travelling teams as far as fans go. This weighs big on BCS Bowls.

2. TCU. TCU returns 9 starters on D. They would have to run the table to get a BCS Bid, but if they did, it would be an automatic because they would have had to defeat both Texas and BYU on the road. There would be no strength of schedule questions here. TCU would most likely end up in the Fiesta Bowl, so travelling is not a real big deal. Winning out will be difficult. I can't see them defeating Texas. A lofty goal for TCU, and probably not attainable.

I do not see any other non-BCS Conference team with the slightest chance of crashing a BCS Bowl game.

I would have to put Boise State on this list too. I realize they lost Zbransky but what alot of people dont realize is that they are the second winningest program this millenium. I would not rule out another Bronco bcs run this season.

Yes im a homer but i think Southern Miss has some strong chances to MAYBE make some noise but first they have to go undefeated in CUSA play which they havent done in a few years but i think they could have a shot this year. They dont have the best OCS with games against Tennessee Martin At Tenn. at Boise State and VS Arkansas State. Last year they team was comin together but now they have one of the better young backs and a very solid backup for him they have now a nice young but experienced receiver corps and former all-american TE Shawn Nelson. Jeremy Young is now a senior and will play better after having a strong showing late in the season. The D is always solid. If they can beat Tennessee which i dont think is as strong as they have been in the past they will have a good chance of beatin Boise and goin undefeated in conference play and i think they can make a splash in the BCS. Im sure yall will smack this down but i think USM will have a shot

i was about to beat you but you put up some good points. and Sporting News has them ranked 24th so maybe they can do somethin. The have the easiest road conference schedule i've seen in years and the C-USA isn't nearly as tough as last year i think. If they can beat Tenn. and Boise State they can atleast be a top 25 team at the end of the year which they haven't done since the Favre era

Southern Miss and Boise State play each other, so one of those teams will be eliminated. I have serious doubt that Southern Miss can beat Tennessee in Knoxville, or that Boise State can beat Hawaii in Honolulu. Remember, a non BCS team has to be underfeated to crash the pasrty or they will never rank high enough to get an automatic bid.

if Boise St. makes it would they really be crashing the party? yeah i know they're in the WAC but the've done it before and are probably gonna be ranked in the top 25 at the beginning of the season.
i dont see anybody outside of maybe Hawaii that has a good shot of doing something like this

The Tennessee game is gonna be hard especially in Knoxville but i dont know how strong the Vols are this year. If Southern can beat them they can beat Boise and i think they can easily sweep through conference play

Well considering Boise State is in the WAC (non BCS conference) if they were to get back they would still be "crashing the BCS".

Agreed. Any team that does not play in the 6 BCS conferences are "crashers". That would include Boise State and Utah, the two teams that have done it.

BYU has historically been one of the top small conference schools. With the BCS in place it is virtually impossible for them to make another National Championship run, but it would not be impossible for them to break into a BCS bowl game. Will it happen this year? Probably not, but I believe they will "crash" in soon.

The only way for any non BCS school to crash the party is to go undefeated. One loss eliminates you from the BCS chase, because the BCS conferences have enough 1 and 2 loss schools to fill the 8 openings in the games. Obviously it would take something along the lines of a miracle for a non BCS school to play in the Championship Game. They would have to run the table and hope that every BCS school except one loses two or more games. Remember the BCS games are a money grab. Why do you think Notre Dame plays in so many with inferior teams? A two loss Notre Dame team is not going to lose out to a one loss non BCS school.

Im going with Hawaii on this one. They seem to be the only non-BCS team that has a shot at making it. Then I hope they play Michigan and beat them.

Your chances of making a BCS bowl rest on the shoulders of your running back. If he can take advantage of CUSA defenses, you guys might have a shot. Undefeated might get you in, but i think Hawaii, BSU, and TCU still have the best shots.

Not sure it will happen this year. Hawaii maybe, but it all depends on their OCS because they sure as heck can't get that big home game. The one thing they have more of is travel, which could hurt their play. Fresno should be better but they just aren't there yet. MY SDSU is crappy and without a prayer.
But IMO there isn't that team this season that'll crack the BCS.

Fletcher can very easily tear up CUSA defenses i think the pressure will be on Jeremy Young and how he can stay consistant and not screw up any games. He is a very good QB and i think if he plays to his potential and Fletcher plays like last year they will be good.
