I think this is one of the most dissapointing things from a commish ive ever seen, this man could have ended Andre Gurode's career, took out his eye, blinded him, and he needs to be gone for the year, and no pay for the rest of the year.

I completely agree. When I saw this I was shocked that they didn't do more. What kind of message is the commish sending to the rest of the players? This is just a slap on the wrist, really. He should have gotten a year.

I want to state this, this would have been the first major thing that roger goodell as new commish, could have made a statement to everyone, saying this will not be tolerated, but, he basically, with the action that albert haynesworth, just gave him a slap on the wrist, and if it were anyone of us, stepping on a mans face, we would be in jail, but because he play football, he get off the hook. this might have been the worst act by a football player ive ever seen, and he only get five games? you gotta be kidding me, and as for hanyesworth, I dont care how many times he say he sorry, or hes not a dirty player, there is not a thing in the world that could make you step on a mans face, and grating his cleets on his face, I just dont understand how you can let him get off the hook.

5 games is a good suspension as any more than that and you get the whole NFLPA involved with appeals, and it stays in the headlines. 5 games and the money lost is a good decision, it punishes the player and then it can drift away.

My opinion is that they should have suspended him longer, so that it would get the attention of other players in the league. The NFLPA has made a statement that they were not going to appeal the ruling, as they represent both players in this situation. I'm sure the suspension could have been longer, and it would have still be upheld. From the pictures I have seen of Gurod, there was no way for Haynesworth to defend his actions.

I would have thought it would have been longer than 5 games myself. Seeing how deliberate and dangerous it was. I just hope all the lip-service from Haynesworth is legit and he ha actually learned from it.

their are limits as per what punishments can be levied as per the deal with the Player association! The 5 game suspension within 24 hours of the crime [and it was a crime] was also precident setting so i tip my cap to Roger and the Players Association not appealling it which in most suspensions is almost automatic. Remember it!!!!! Let it go and move on like the Cowboy player who said he is fine with it!

At the very least I would have kicked this guy out for the rest of the season, and mulled over a lifetime ban. But then the idiots who run the NHL set the bar with how they handled that gentleman of all gentlemen Todd Bertuzzi, so if the punishment isn't going to fit the crime, then why would anyone care about how dirty they play since they know that nothing permanent will happen to them anyways? Disgusting doesn't begin to describe it.
