it was totally uncalled for. And here is where we get into the question - should someone be held MORE accountable BECAUSE they might be role models for kids, or is that unfair?

I do not think that this is just about a player being a role model for children, it also has to do with what is acceptible in society. If this situation would have happened in the streets, and it was caught on tape, the suits brought would be plentiful, and expensive. Due to it happening on the Football Field, he actually is getting away with it to a point. He isn't getting jail time, nor is he paying retribution to the player he offended......

I say make it for the rest of the year, and have a backbone when the players association appeals. Keep it in the headlines so the next player thinks twice before doing something so ridiculously stupid.

only thing i find problematic now is the recent team suspension of J Porter normally i dont care anything about tha Raaaaiders but they are suspending a player that has done everything the coach has asked for one less game than the Hainesworth...... Even though he is being TO'd or Keyshawned most likely barring catastrophic injuries to rest of WR corp their in the Black Hole

I totally agree with this. I am often frustrated, for instance, at the highschool football/sports level - when players get away with things (like putting exlax in brownies and giving them to the other team) - the things that highschool kids in theatre would be expelled for doing to some other school's theatre club.
