What team would you buy

Okay, FourBear's great thread made me think of this:

If you could buy any NFL franchise, which would it be and why? And I don't want to see everybody just picking their favorite teams... this is a business decision!

I think from a business standpoint it would have to be the Green Bay Packers, They have by far the most consecutive sellouts ( I heard the waiting time for season tickets is like 30 years) other team's that make business sense, Kansas city, NYG and Denver.

Easily the Packers.

It's called marketability and they sure as hell have it.

I agree. The Packers. They've got a whole city, if not a whole state, behind them and the strength of that will outlast anything. Too much history there for it to ever be frittered away.

i would not consider purchasing the pack as they should not be owned by an owner thats the point of my favorite team. it would taint them and turn them incredibly corporate. they are the last of their kind.

if i was going to buy a team it would be the Arizona Cardinals. you can laugh if you'd like, but as a business decision, it could be a HUGE gain. Brand new state of the art stadium (they sold the naming rights to the wrong company, but still made money, and i could change that in 5 years) They have a coach that can draft and can win. young and veteran QB's, 2 amazing WR's, franchise RB, improving DEF, super solid kicker, and a sold out stadium. Those AZ fans will gravitate to that franchise with a little work, and they are really not that far away if they stay on course. Work on the OL and DEF, and you have the makings of a new top franchise.

I think I would have to go with either the Cowboys or the 49ers. They both are such huge teams and the Cowboys merchandise and just name always seem to be marketable.

Interesting picks so far, I'll throw mine into the ring here and say the Eagles. Fan base is crazy, some would say fanatical. Strong loyalty is good for a club.

I'd buy New Orleans and have them meet me in LA. I am still baffled how there is no team in LA. It's just such a huge market. And as far as NO, the home coming and all that was great and all, but I just honestly don't see it lasting. Small market + perpetual losing = not so many fans, which = not so much money. Though they don't lokk half bad this year. I hope the enthusiasm does last.

Other than that team, I know we aren't supposed to pick our favorite team, but I'd buy the Niners... and then give it to someone who gives a damn about winning football games.

I'm not a big fan of either the 49ers or the Cowboys, but the people who picked them definitely made good business decisions here! In merchandise alone, they'd bring in millions and millions...

I can't stand them, but if it's a business decision, I'd buy the Redskins. They ARE worth the most money.

I would totally buy KC. I think that that would be a great strategy!

I didn't think of it like that.... I could buy the team I hate the worst (the Bucs) and totally dismantle it and run it into the ground......

Well I am going out on a limb here and would say the Cleveland Browns. The reason I say them is not just because I live here. But I have seen how the fans have stuck behind this team through thick and thin. We worked hard to get a team back when they moved to baltimore. I just feel for this reason it would be a good investment overall.
