Rate your team's 2002 Draft
Time for some HF style wank. Rate your team's 2002 draft
Denver Broncos 1/19 Ashley Lelie WR: A disapointment to be sure. Could only run a streak route and petulantly left the team this year. However, did manage a 1,000 yard season and the three way trade salvaged some value. 2/51 Clinton Portis RB: Highway robbery. Even after his attitude became a problem his trade netted Canton bound Champ Bailey and Tatum Bell 3/96 Dorsett Davis DT: Bust. Out of the league 4/131 Sam Brandon FS: Still with the team. Depth player. 5/144 Herb Haygood WR: Out of the league. Another of Shanny's cold streak on picking WRs 6/191 Jeb Putzier TE: Decent Recieving TE. Cut this offseason for lack of toughness. 7/228 Chris Young SS: Two years in the league. Nothing came of him. 7/231 Monsanto Pope DT: Spent time rotating in the Broncos line. Left the team last year due to personaly reasons (distraught over exclusion from Leaf Lander's list of Popes). All in all a very good draft. 6 of the 8 paid some divedentd to the team. |

New England Patriots
Round 1/21 Daniel Graham TE - Solid Starter for a 2x Super Bowl Champion, better blocker than reciever. Has had injury problems. Career numbers to date:100rec 1181yards 11.8avg 48long 15td Round 2/65 Deion Branch WR - Starting WR for 2x Super Bowl Champion and Super Bowl MVP. Front line #1 WR in the NFL, only weakness might be his diffiuclty finding the end zone. Career Numbers to date 213rec 2744yards 12.9avg 66long 14td's Obviously just traded to Seattle for a #1 pick after holding out for training camp. Round 4/117 Rohan Davey QB - Out of the NFL. Had physical talent, never seemed able to master the Patriots offense. Round 4/126 Jarvis Green DE - Solid contributor on a extremely talented DL. Typically #4 DL in the Pats 3 - 4 Defense. Could start for many/most teams in the NFL. Career Stats - 11 Sacks and 3 Forced Fumbles Round 7/237 Antwoine Womack RB - Never made it back from his Knee injuries at UVA. Out of the NFL Round 7/244 David Givens WR - Wow, what a 7th round steal. Became the Patriots starting #2 WR. Always seemed to find the endzone. Signed a large deal with Tennessee in the off-season. Career stats - 161rec 2241yards 13.9avg 57long 12TD's All in all a very strong draft - 3 Starters at skill positions (including a Super Bowl MVP) and one solid back-up on the DL. Only 2 players never made any impact, one of which was a 7th rounder. 4 of the players helped form the foundation to 2 SB's wins and a 21 game winning streak. |

The last "Denny Green" draft, and it is a microcosm of why that guy needed to be fired. His drafts became legendary bungled nightmares frought with bad trades and worse reaches.
1 7 7 Bryant McKinnie T Miami (FL) Easily their best pick. Actually, almost their only pick worth mentioning. However, this isn't the guy they wanted. They tried to grab Sims before the Cowboys and Chiefs completed their trade. Thank god they were rejected. 2 2 6 38 Raonall Smith LB Washington State A big-time reach typically of the Green regime. "Gimme a good athlete, and I will turn him into a player" mentality. Only it never worked. A converted RB wo never developed any instinct for the position and made matters worse by being freakishly injury prone. Managed only 30 games in 4 years. 3 3 5 70 Willie Offord DB South Carolina Another major reach. This was a 5th round value at best. A special teamer who was a liability in the passing game, but not savvy or big enough to switch to LB. Out of football. 4 4 7 105 Brian Williams DB North Carolina State Second best pick of the draft. A solid starter and physical CB. Lacks deep speed, but makes plays. Starting for the Jags. 5 4 34 132 Edward Ta'amu G Utah A reach, see a trend? Lazy player who didn't even make the opening roster, despite a laughably thin offensive line. Never played a game in the NFL. 6 6 5 177 Nick Rogers LB Georgia Tech Bubble player. A converted DE whose best fit is a 3-4. Still kicking around out there. 7 7 7 218 Chad Beasley DT Virginia Tech Not athletic enough for the d-line, so they converted him to the O-line. Still serves as camp fodder, but not NFL-material. Overal, a C. Had needs EVERYWHERE so had no worries about positions played. Managed only 2 NFL players out of it, one of which was a second choice (dropping the grade). |
