Top Potential Bust from the 2008 Draft - Page 2

Jags traded up to get their guy. He would not have lasted to their original pick spot. That was a huge deal for the Jags. And Harvey did very well in the practice sessions thus far. I think this was a great pick for the jags. Who else would they have taken? They had a need for him and they got their guy. GREAT PICK!

No one was going to draft derick Harvey. They could have waited for him.

That just is not accurate at all. Harvey was #2 on the Defensive depth chart for the 2008 draft and overall #12 or #13 (depending where you looked). The Jags would have not been able to get him at their original #23(i think) spot. They took the #8 because it was the best deal they got offered that they felt would guarantee he would be there. They would have taken him at #1 if they had that pick. He was the perfect fit for the Jags draft needs IMO.

Well as you see in draft no one was even going for defense. Most selections were offense. They should have traded down to fifteenth to make look like a better choice.

I hear ya. I just dont think they had another need to address as much as they needed a pass rusher with sack potential. Add 15 pounds to Harvey and he is gonna be that guy! I still like the pick at #8, why wait when you know what you want? I like the aggressive manner they went after him.
