NFL's Personal Conduct Policy...
Is it working?
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - That's what this guy wants to know. Thus far, not so much, apparently... |

Well... You can put a pig in a dress and take it to the prom, but in the end, you still just got a pig in a dress... It always makes me laugh when people act surprised that some of these guys commit crimes. You can take the boys out of back-woods/gettos. But you can't take the back-woods/gettos out of the boys. You get a bunch of red necks country boys, a bunch of gang bangers, throw them a bunch of money and expect them to behave... Come on now, what did you expect.

I totally agree. Add on the fact that half of these guys never belonged in college, and have to look at their Social Security Cards to figure out their name, and you see where this is going. I look for more problems in the NFL.

The conduct policy is a joke when you have owners and fans who's only concern is winning these scumbags will always have somewhere to play and the league will continue to have websites that have arrest trackers in the off-season, and I think 3 days is the highest we got this offseason without a arrest or law entanglement.
I think the teams need to start being punished for their players then character will be a lot more important for dirtbags like Jerry Jones. There was an article I read (forgot from where) where someone had a chart to strip teams of draft picks for players getting into trouble. There are people who should never play in the league such as Pacman Jones and Michael Vick, if Goodell had any balls he would bannish them both forever. There is no reason for scum like that to be given the privlege of stepping on an NFL field let them go play in the CFL or AFL.

Well you can't punish a team with pics... That rediculous. But suspending a player for the season and have his wage be reflected in the cap is more of a fair way of going. Imagine if Vic's situation was like that, no one would pick him up for fear of having such a huge use of CAP for a player in jail. Same with Pac, Henry and on and on. Either the players would smarten up because teams wouldn't pick them up, or they'd simply not get the huge money they feel the deserve. Win win in my opinion.

Playing in the NFL is a huge honor and it is a privelage not a right, so scumbags like conVICK and Jones don't deserve that privelage. The whole point of the mans article and the thing I loved about it is that teams like Oakland, Bengals, and Cowboys would have to think twice before staying the half way houses of the league where every losser drug dealing, drunk driving, drive bying SOB goes before they fade into memories and blooper reels. So no it is not out of the question and if the NFL really want to clean up its image they need to think more drastic otherwise they will continue to be a laughing stock of the sports world when it comes to criminals.

Well here's the diff in what I was saying and how it is right now. We'll use the Vic thing. As it stands they were able to get his money (or a portion of it back) So in the end they only lost a player. What I was suggesting is that they still be held accountable for his contract, keeping his debt on their salery cap. See the difference?

That's what I was getting at. Don't take away draft picks since that would cripple a team as a result of the actions of a few. This would also prevent a team from drafting "newer cleaner" player to their rosters. Perhaps even making a provision that would prevent this punishment from applying to rookies, since often times teams don't know what they're getting in new players. But once the players have been in the league and identified as problems, making a team accountable just makes sence.
