Unlike some others on this board and in this world (Puma is the one that comes to mind), I think Reggie Bush will be very good in the NFL and should have been top pick overall. The Texans will regret the day they passed on that guy. He's the best college football player I have ever seen, besides former Florida Gator great Todd "T-Lo" Johsnon, now of the Chicago Bears.

With McCallister still in NO, Bush is a wildcard on what type of season he will have. Nobody will be able to accurately gauge him this year due to the circumstances. But there is ONE good note that should help whoever is the top NO RB, and that is, they got rid of that bum Aaron Brooks.

Durability will define Reggie Bush's career, that may sound like stating the obvious and to an extent it is but I think his greatness will depend on his ability to adjust to the rigors of an NFL season.
He could make a huge impact this season if used properly by NO, basically if they use him similar to the way he was used in college he will have a great year. |

people, the media especially, keep saying that bush is a "once in a lifetime talent". i couldn't disagree more. sure, bush is a fantastic back with mindblowing moves. however, there have been and will be others who will receive atleast equal admiration. warrick dunn is the most recent that i can think of who was a media darling. he was expected to continue his college success into the nfl - people expected him to maintain his stats. so far, warrick dunn is a successful running back, but he hasn't performed at the level the media said he would. people are also quick to overlook another phenomenal running back that was just drafted out of memphis, deangelo williams. he has comparable numbers to bush, but people slight williams because he played in c-usa. if you watched deangelo play, you'd think you were watching bush. it doesn't really matter if williams played in c-usa. the pac-10 isn't known for it's great defenses either, especially verses usc's o-line and a matt leinart to attract some attention too. deangelo has the same moves, the same vision, the same speed, and the same tackle breaking ability. he just wasn't a media darling though.

Bush is the real deal, as long as he's used correctly. You can't line him up out of the I and give him 25 carries a game. His OC is going to have to be creative, running him to the corners, off-set formations, using a lot of screens, lining him up in the slot, etc.
FWIW, I think Houston made the right decision. Reggie Bush is a difference maker, but he's not the type of game-changer you build your team around. Mario Williams should be that on defense, and at a premium position. Good RB's really are a dime a dozen, and Houston already has one. Stud DE's are a lot tougher to come by. |

I think as long as Bush's front line is good, he'll be good. Just like any other back. The O line makes or breaks you.
But I do think he will put up decent number without a good line. So yeah, he's the real deal. But he isn't going to be an everydown back IMO because of his size. |

He will make an impact for sure (hopefully in the return game as well), but I do not think it will be a dramatic impact, at least not yet. It will take some time for Sean Payton and Co. to figure out how to best utilize Deuce and Bush together. If they split time it will bode well for both as Reggie has not been treated to an NFL-type workload yet and Deuce is coming off the surgery. I do not think you will see big numbers from Reggie in his rookie campaign however you will see lots of him on NFL primetime that's for sure. I trust Sean Payton will line up Reggie in many different ways/looks which should be fun to watch.
