Favre RETIRES
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Favre has decided to call it a career
Not sure if this is legit or not but it sure sounds like it. Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere. The excitement got to me. |

It's everywhere now, so it looks 100% legit. I'm surprised frankly, after this season I thought he'd take one last shot at a SB.

You can't really blame the guy. He's got his ring, he's got every record in the QB book, and he's nearly universally beloved by Packers and non-Packers fans alike. Honestly, unless your team is also in the NFC North, you're probably at least a little saddened to see Favre go, and that says something to the uniqueness of his career.
As a Giant fan, part of me is upset that Favre's last pass of his career was an interception to our own Corey Webster (though I wouldn't change it for the world), but another, greater part is deeply thankful, and humbled, that we got to be the last team to match-up to #4. Congratulations to Brett on a legendary career. He will be sorely missed. Always a class-act, Favre was the kind-of field general you can only dream about. |

Being a Vikings fan, this is a bitter-sweet day.
On the bitter side: Growing up, the only QB that I have ever seen with the Packers has been Brett Favre. He has given me so many memories (good and bad ). He is one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game, and I'm just thankful I got to see him play. Its going to be weird/sad to not see him line up on Sundays anymore. On the sweet side: As a Vikings fan, I'm just happy we don't have to play that guy anymore. Now the Packers can join the rest of the NFC North in their struggles to find a franchise QB. They haven't had to deal with that mess for 17 years! I think the Vikings are now the favorite to take the division. On a side note, I wouldn't be surprised ff he comes out of retirement and returns to play. He can still obviously play at a pro bowl level. He's just mentally tired and taking some time away from the game might change his mind later.
