2008 NFL Mock Draft Revised

Revised Mock Draft of my old one, Round 1 only:
  1. Miami Dolphins- Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU: I honestly think they'll trade down, like to Dallas so they can get McFadden, but since I'm not doing trades they can't pass up Dorsey to anchor their D-Line.
  2. St. Louis Rams- Jake Long, OT, Michigan: 13 different starters on their O-Line last year, Jake Long would sure up their very shakey O-Line, and will get their high powered offense back.
  3. Atlanta Falcons- Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College: Obviously a desperate need is QB, and hopefully he can be a bright spot for this disgruntled team.
  4. Oakland Raiders- Chris Long, DE, Virginia: Like father, like son, Long will join the Raiders and sure up their Defense and will be a force alongside Burgess.
  5. Kansas City Chiefs- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC: Despite having a major OT need, there's no Top 5 nor Top 10 Tackles left, so they'll improve their decent D with arguably the best D-Line men in the draft.
  6. New York Jets- Dan Connor, ILB, Penn State: Connor, the best LB in this draft will help improve the Jets D and with the likely departure of the disgruntled Jon Vilma, they can't pass him up.
  7. New England Patriots (SF)- Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy: Probably will trade down as usual, but with the apparent departure of Asante Samuel their #1 need is CB. Could also seeing them taking McFadden here, assuming Cowboys havn't gotten him already.
  8. Baltimore Ravens- Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville: Boller obviously ain't the answer, McNair is way old, and not sure if they think Troy Smith is the answer, so Brohm will be their future QB.
  9. Cincinnati Bengals- Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB: If he falls this fall, the Bengals will gladly take Gholston, with his flexability at DE/OLB and his power and 1st step of the line, they'll have already improved their Defense greatly with this pick.
  10. New Orleans Saints- Keith Rivers, OLB, USC: DB and LB are basically their only needs so Rivers being available here will go to NO.
  11. Buffalo Bills- Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma: Kelly will compliment Evans nicely and it helps that the Bills have him as their #1 WR on their list.
  12. Denver Broncos- Kentwan Balmer, DT, N. Carolina: After having one of the worst Rush Defenses in the NFL last year, Balmer should sure up that problem with his size and run stopping ability.
  13. Carolina Panthers- Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State: Panthers had trouble running the ball last year and Clady could help solve that problem.
  14. Chicago Bears- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas: Highly doubtful he drops this fall, but I don't see anyone taking him before this pick. He proably will get taken by a team trading up for him, i.e. Dallas. But him and Hester will be 2 key Playmakers for their Offense. Other pick I see here is Joe Flacco or Andre Woodson.
  15. Detroit Lions- Jon Stewart, RB, Oregon: It's no surprise that they need a RB and they have a more pass Offense than rush offense, so with his great catching ability, to go with his durability I see them taking Stewart over Jones or Mendenhall.
  16. Arizona Cardinals- Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois: With Edgerrin's likely release coming they'll need a young, talented RB like Mendenhall who is rated higher than McFadden by some experts.
  17. Minnesota Vikings- Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan: The Vikings need a WR more than anything and Manningham will give Tarvaris Jackson a good target to throw to alongside Sidney Rice.
  18. Houston Texans- Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas: McFadden's teammate who is good RB who rushed for over 1000yds and 11TDs as a backup last year. He will fill a nice hole in Houston's backfield.
  19. Philadelphia Eagles- DeSean Jackson, WR, California: Getting Jackson could end up being the best thing for Philly. With his speed and size, he'll fit perfectly as a slot receiver between Reggie Brown & Kevin Curtis. And bonus, the Eagles were desperately in need of a Returner last season and he is an explosive Returner.
  20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt: Big, physical, and impressive Tackle who's stock is greatly rising, will help solidify the Buc's O-Line. Could also see them going TE Fred Davis here.
  21. Washington Redskins- Branden Albert, OG, Virginia: The Skins will need help at Guard, and he's probably the only Guard worth a 1st round pick, so they'll take him here.
  22. Dallas Cowboys (CLE)- Early Doucet, WR, LSU: Doucet is a very good receiver who is often underrted with very good hands. He'll be the future WR of the Cowboys after T.O.
  23. Pittsburgh Steelers- Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh: Steelers need help at O-Line big time and with Faneca seemingly not comin back, Otah could play both Guard and Tackle so his versiltility would benefit the Steelers greatly.
  24. Tennessee Titans- Limas Sweed, WR, Texas: This pick just makes sense. They need a reciever, he went to Texas, and he was one of Vince Young's favorite targets. Missing most the season last year due to a wrist injury, his stock fell a little, but he has the skill and size to be a Top WR in the future.
  25. Seattle Seahawks- Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (FL): Kenny Phillips will help sure up the Seahawks secondary and make their D even better.
  26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson: Merling will give the Jaguars a solid DE who could make a immediate impact.
  27. San Diego Chargers- Sam Baker, OT, USC: He'll add depth to the Chargers inconsistant O-Line and could possibly end up starting in his rookie season.
  28. Dallas Cowboys- Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida: The Cowboys need another shutdown Corner to play opposite Newman in the future, because Henry is old and often injured and Reeves isn't the answer.
  29. San Francisco 49ers (IND)- Derrick Harvey, DE/OLB, Florida: Harvey will solidify the 49ers depleting D-Line and can also play LB.
  30. Green Bay Packers- Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas: Woodson ain't getting any younger and they'll need to replace him soon, and Talib could be the answer.
  31. New York Giants- Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, DB, Tennssee State: Dominique could play S or CB in the NFL and could provide great depth to the Super Bowl champs and possibly a starting CB with Madison aging and both their starting Safeties Free agents.
  32. New England Patiots- Forfeit

I like your picks here. Seems realistic. But, Mendenhall won't go after Jon Stewart, he will go before. And probably not that early in the draft. But then again, anything can happen. I also think the Phins take Ellis or Long on the Dline over Dorsey. But, very good job on this.

those are some real good picks Brown. i dont like rivers to the saints though. not knocking the player or the idea, but CB is a greater need than LB. the saints LBs aren't really that bad. their not the best in the league but they get the job done

McFadden will not drop that far unless something seriously wrong with him is discovered. Adrian Peterson guarenteed him a top-10 spot with the way he played for the Vikings and for his play in the pro bowl.

That's why I said it's Highly Doubtful, but I'm pretty sure no one under Chicago will spend all that money he'll ask for when they already have a good RB, that's why I think someone will trade up for him
