I saw this article and i thought it was nice for a change to see it being written about positives. As a 49ers fan i know i am sure sick of hearing all the negatives about them this season and am in need for a little bit of hope. What do you guys think?

I'm with you... You are not alone... The 9ers have been saving their pennies for the last little bit and still have a lot of coin to throw around now, and this season's FA class could prove to be a "make a team FA race" for those with the capital to draw the big names. WR's are gonna be hot this year, along with some decent line men and with Lance Briggs up for grabs, this could address some of the big holes in the 9ers team. That being said, I can't wish you too much success with the big names as I'd still like to see the Phins get back into the game after last season... But next to them, all the best...

More so, Martz is a recipe for disaster. His mindset is completely contradicted by the talent he has to work with. The Lions fired him for a reason. This could be (and IMO will be) a disaster in the making. 2) QB? We talking about the same Smith who had a virtual breakdown last year and has been feuding with his Head Coach? As for the impact of Martz, what the heck did he do in Detroit for Kitna? Well, other than subject him to the beating of his life while making him pass 70% of the time. Do note, quantity is no substitute for quality. Passing a lot doesn't mean you are passing well. 3) The Draft. This one made me crack up. Whomever wrote this article is actually trying to claim that Staley was indeed worth trading away the 7th overall pick? That is just downright laughable. You know how bad you have to stretch things when Haralson and Robinson are some of the best "talents" you can come up with. Names that will cause 80% of people reading this to have to look them up to even know what positions they play. 4) FA. Give him this one. Niners have not been shy about paying to add talent. 5) Willis. Give him this one too. Overall, this reads like a monster-homer fluff piece. The 1st three points have little to no basis in reality (or facts).

Nolans not gonna allow Martz to pass 70% of the time when they have Gore. Kitna sucks and always will. Smith only played 6 games last season, he has yet to have a standout game but really hasn't had a chance or maybe Hills the guy to start. The draft should be alright, they got the Colts 1st round pick plus an early 2nd round pick. They need an O-Lineman, a WR, or a D-Lineman. Have plenty of cap room for a good FA, maybe Faneca. Willis was defensive ROY, what more can you say.

Martz system, combined with the Niners lack of WR talent and marginal line, isn't the way to rebuild a QBs confidence. Hill is a marginal player. He had a couple decent games, but he is this year's Huard to me. Quote:
2009. 2008 looks like another rebuilding year.

No one knows what Martz is gonna do until game time and by then Nolan will have a big influence on it. Smith is young and has yet to play behind a healthy OL or have a good WR to throw too.

Martz had a better offense in Detroit and they didnt deliever on Kitna's promise. He will not fare much better with the 49ers.
