When you go to a game...

What is the best way to stay warm? It is almost always cold up here (in the NE) by the time football season is well underway. How do you keep from freezing (especially in the snow)?

Don't have to worry about that down here in North Carolina

In Ohio, though -

1) lots of clothing
2) chili and other good warm tailgate food
3) bring heater to tailgate
4) bring a blanket or something to put on the seats or something

I dunno, it's too warm here.

Here in NY, we layer our clothing and drink hot chocolate (rather than coffee or tea).

At the tailgate party, drink alcohol - lowers the body temperature so you don't feel the cold and eat chili or beef stew.

You take someone with you to keep you warm. A nice blanket to sit on and one to cover up with, someone to snuggle, and some hot coffee!

game time

layers...a "heat seat"...and a blanket..keep your hands covered....and ears...they'll feel the cold first.

I live in NE too, and I usually just eat some kind of warm food before the game while tailgating like chili or hot sausage or something like that. Then, I usually just bring in a sweatshirt/coat and a hat, and sometimes gloves if it is really that cold.

Move to Canada. Experience real cold. Go back to New England. Then things won't seem as cold. :P

Just do the sweater/gloves/ear muffs thing.

I live about 1 hour from Canada Sure, not the coldest, but close.

Great ideas, especially since I'm a fan of chili. Drinking alcohol isn't the greatest idea, though...you feel warm because the alcohol makes your blood flow to your skin more, meanwhile your core body temp drops. A good quick fix, but not a great permanent way to stay warm

It depends where you are in Canada. In Montreal and those areas its actually not that colder than in NH or MA at all. In summer it's actually sometimes hotter there.

New York Giants

Most of the heat lost from your body is from your extremities. Keep the head/ears and hands warm. My secret to keeping your feet warm; bring a styrofoam cooler lid. Instead of having your feet resting on the ice cold concrete that stadiums are made of rest them on the insulated cooler top. It works.

Also, find out which is the sunny side of the stadium and sit there. At Giants Stadium it's the Giants side of the field. Always found it funny that the visiting team sideline gets hardly any sun.

Agreed. Clothing and a tasty sidekick is the best way to get the job done.

Interesting observation. I wonder if they do that on purpose...? Tell me, do the fans on that side look like they are shivering? haha.
