Dolphins Draft

Well what can be said of the “poo poo” season these poor Miami fans had? Better luck next year, is about all that can be said in reality. But with next year comes new rookies and that’s where things get a little interesting. The reason I’m saying that is because with the Patriots loosing their 1st round draft pick, this basically makes the first pick in the 2nd round, the last pick in the 1st round. If rumors are correct, then expect the Dolphins to trade down their 1st round pick and possibly gain a lower 1st and another 2nd round pick. All of this to say that if the Phins play their cards right and if Bill has as much of an impact as he’s expected to have on this franchise, then the Dolphins may be headed back into the lime light over the next couple of seasons.

As a side note, who was hopping for the Disney like scenario where the winless Dolphins beat the Patriots to spoil the perfect season?

Back on topic… It looks as though sources are all leaning towards the Dolphins picking DT Glen Dorsey with their 1st round pick, but with a fair crop of defensive linemen out there, trading their #1 1st round pick for a later pick may still yield a fair defensive linemen, all of which appear to less injury prone then the at times lazy Glen Dorsey.

The next in line would likely be RB Daren McFadden, but I feel this greatly hinges on how much stock the Dolphins place on “returning” running back Ricky Williams, which I hope is next to none.

Any how, any thoughts..?

1. Miami had 1 win going into the game with New England.
2. Ricky Williams is irrelevant in regard to McFadden. Ronnie Brown is their starting back, and before the injury, he was close to leading the AFC in rushing.
3. McFadden wouldn't be the next choice. Why stockpile at one position when others are so glaringly lacking?

Yes and no to some of that... For some reason, I thought they were winless going into that game... For that correction, thank you... Makes it a lot less "Disneylike" had they won the game...

The Ricky thing is still around, much to my own disapointment, but if you look at how things have gone in Miami, they keep wanting to get that double backfield thing in place at all costs... Since they keep trying to get just that, and seeing as how Ronny can't seem to finish a season in good health, one might conclude that he would be better suited in a two back offence (being that he can split duties with another back), or perhaps even replaced altogether. He was drafeted with the intent of being the second back in a backfeild that would have been made up of Ricky and Ronny.

That being said, stocking up in a skill positions like running backs is always going to be a priority for most teams that, like the Phins, like to pound the ball. And with their lack of receivers these days, they'll probably look at pounding even more.

One can only hope that they either get more draft picks, or address many of their problems in the Free Agent race... Either way, I doubt we'll see any huge swings in how they're playing anytime soon, but one can hope.
