Taylor Murder Case

Read on other media outlets someone broke in, nothing was stolen and a knife was left on the pillow in Taylor's bedroom. A week later Sean and his girlfriend hear a loud noise, she gets up, grabs the baby and hides under the covers. Taylor was going towards the bedroom door, it gets kicked in, shots fired. His fathers a police chief, he didn't have a registered gun, no alarm system, no dogs or guards. Something doesn't add up in this case, looks like a hit was put on him.

Read a close family friend tells that Sean's parents have already retained a lawyer and that Sean's girlfriend and other family members have also retained separate lawyers. Word is that all sides are headed for a battle over Sean's assets. The family friend tells Sean did not have a will.

A security system IMO is always a must, and a shotgun or two is always nice. I just don't get how someone can sleep at night without one or the other. Albeit a machete is nice, but doesn't have the stopping power of a 12 gauge. A senseless murder and I don't think I want to start going into conspiracy theories yet.

He has a security system but it was deactivated due to his family being in (something with a sister or cousin coming in and out of the house)...and he could not own a gun because of the probation.

This story is fishy though, supposedly the g/f said the lines were cut but in a report i saw that this was not the case. if that is the case then it would be a planned hit, but if not then i could see it more as a burglary attempt (knowing the safe was in the bedroom when he came around the first time and figuring sean was with the team b/c of the sunday game) bringing the right materials to get the safe (plus a hit, i would think, would have shots fired in upper body)...i don't even like thinking about any of this though

He had his life turned around and had everything going uphill for him. It's ashame some people have to go so young.

RIP #21, my heart it out with all of those affected

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Still in disbelief of his childhood friend's shooting death, Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antrel Rolle vowed Wednesday to make sure Sean Taylor is remembered.
He added he did not believe the killing was part of a burglary gone sour, and that Taylor had many enemies on the streets of Miami.
"This was not the first incident," Rolle said. "They've been targeting him for three years now."
Rolle said many former "friends" had it in for Taylor, who was trying to build a more stable life.
"He really didn't say too much," Rolle said, "but I know he lived his life pretty much scared every day of his life when he was down in Miami because those people were targeting him. At least, he's got peace now."
Rolle and Taylor, whose fathers were policemen in Homestead, Fla., started playing football together when they were 6 years old. They went on to become University of Miami teammates and NFL first-round draft picks. Both wore No. 21, Rolle for the Cardinals, Taylor for the Washington Redskins.
Rolle said he hadn't talked to Taylor in a while, and that the Redskin had withdrawn from the crowd he hung around with to build a new life with his girlfriend and young daughter.
"There was so much surrounding him," Rolle said. "Everyone was talking about him bad, so he just had to distance himself from everyone and live a life of his own. ... Within the last year, I've never seen anyone make such a dramatic change,"
Withdrawing from a bad crowd isn't easy, though, Rolle said.
"They say it was a burglary. It absolutely was not a burglary," he said. "Down South, where we're from, there were many people talking to Sean, a lot of jealousy, a lot of angry people.
"Sean, he had a large group of friends, and he no longer hung out with those friends, so you never know where this came from."
Rolle said his family rushed to the hospital to be with Taylor's family following the shooting.
"It really hasn't hit me yet," Rolle said, "the fact that I'm never going to see his face again, his ways, him performing on the field. My heart goes out to his girlfriend, his family, his little kid."
Rolle will leave immediately after Sunday's game against Cleveland on a flight to Miami, where he will attend Monday's memorial service. But Rolle wants fans to keep remembering Taylor as the player he was and the man he was becoming after some rough years.
"I'm going to keep his name alive," Rolle said. "Every time I make a play, I'm definitely going to mention him. I'm going to represent my 21 as his 21."
Rolle said he and Taylor became friends as 6-year-old teammates for the Homestead Hurricanes. Later, when they played against each other, Rolle was a running back and Taylor a linebacker.
"They'd call a sweep one way," Rolle said. "I would look at him on that side, and I would change the play myself and go the other way because I knew he would try to knock my head off."
Rolle was an All-American as a senior in 2004 and was picked eighth overall by the Cardinals. A year before, Taylor earned similar honors at Miami, then went to Washington as the fifth overall choice.
"I definitely will go out there and play and do everything I can do because I know how much he loved the game," Rolle said. "I don't think there was anyone who lived it or took it as seriously as he did. I just told myself I'm not going to let his name die. We started when we were 6 years old, and we're going to finish it together."

I agree with Rolle this doesn't seem like a robbery

Wow, touching story as well, by Rolle.

He changed the play because he knew he would try to take his head off, almost makes you want to cry.....

Police suspect random burglar killed Taylor; grieving Redskins try to move on
By JOSEPH WHITE, AP Sports Writer
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Police investigating Sean Taylor's death say they've found no indication the Washington Redskins safety was targeted or knew the assailant who broke into his home.
Miami-Dade police director Robert Parker called it "more like a random event."
"There's nothing that indicates thus far that there's some kind of involvement on the victim's part," he said Wednesday.
Evidence indicates one or more intruders barged into Taylor's home in an affluent Miami suburb early Monday, Parker said. After a confrontation inside the house, the 24-year-old was shot once in the upper leg and died early Tuesday after losing a tremendous amount of blood.
Police said they had no suspects, and were still investigating a possible link to a Nov. 17 break-in at Taylor's home, during which they said someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed.
"We have no reason to think this was anything other than a burglary or a robbery involving an intruder," Parker said. Taylor's funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Pharmed Arena on the campus of Florida International University in Miami. Redskins owner Dan Snyder is making arrangements for the entire football organization to attend.
At Redskins Park on Wednesday, Taylor's family and teammates came together to privately share tears and memories. Taylor's father, Pedro Taylor, and girlfriend Jackie Garcia both addressed the team.
"Many of these guys were wondering, 'How in the world am I going to go out and do this on Sunday?"' said Brett Fuller, the team chaplain. "And when Mr. Taylor stood up and said go out and win these next five and make it to the playoffs, we felt a surge in the room, that he almost gave us permission to play well."
Taylor's father didn't state the team should win in honor or memory of his son, but many players adopted that feeling nonetheless. The Redskins (5-6) are in contention for a playoff berth despite three straight losses.
"We all know that's something Sean would want for us," defensive end Andre Carter said. "You've got to keep on moving forward."
The team then began to attempt to focus on preparations for Sunday's home game against the Buffalo Bills. Players went to their game-planning meetings -- which were shorter than normal -- and later held a quieter-than-usual afternoon practice.
"Nothing was normal about today," linebacker London Fletcher said. "We had the meetings, but it wasn't the normal type of meetings. Practice, it was practice, but it just wasn't the same type of feeling, so to speak. We tried to make it feel the same, but I found myself thinking about Sean and imagining him out on the football field playing free safety for us."
Taylor's locker remained untouched, but the Redskins made the uncomfortably necessary move of dropping him from the official roster as part of a series of personnel moves.
The NFL announced that every player league-wide will wear a No. 21 decal on his helmet at this weekend's games to honor Taylor. Redskins players will wear the decal for the remainder of the season.
Carter was coping with the loss of a teammate for the second time in three years. He played for the San Francisco 49ers when offensive lineman Thomas Herrion died of a heart attack after a preseason game in September 2005. 49ers coach Mike Nolan called Gibbs on Tuesday night to offer sympathy and advice.
"I've experienced the death of two teammates," Carter said. "No person wants to say that."
While players found it difficult to stay focused on Xs and Os in the meetings, the physical nature of the practice was somewhat therapeutic.
"Unfortunately, these guys don't get bereavement leave," Fuller said. "They've got to work through it. They have to live through it. Football is a passion game, and if your soul's broken, if your soul's hurting, it's tough to go out there and give it all."
Associated Press Writer Matt Sedensky in Miami contributed to this report.

The police act like they're ready to give up on this case

Washington Redskins R.I.P. Sean Taylor #21

Yeah, thats the sense that I get from it too. It's more than just a random burglary, I mean the first time the house was broken into, nothing was taken, where if it was a burglary, something would have. Only a knife was placed on the bed. Someone was targeting Taylor. The second time, the intruder was carrying a gun, shot Taylor, and left. Again, not taking anything. Taylor was the target of something, the police just don't want the case.

I believe Taylor was unable to own a gun stemming from a previous firearm conviction. IIRC, he threatened somebody with a handgun following a fender bender.

If the rumors are true, Taylor used to be mixed up with some bad crowds. Some of that crowd didn't like Taylor moving on.

3 suspects have been arrested and are being questioned for the murder of Sean Taylor. The Miami Herald reported the suspects' ages as 17, 18 and 21.

I think this is probably a pretty likely scenario. Shame, as it did look like Taylor was moving on with his life. Too bad his past came back to haunt him possibly.
