Are the Patriots overrated?

This question was only creating b/c ppl are upset that they were beaten by the Patriots. I really don't care they beat my Boys, they are certainly not overrated. This team is the real deal, and I won't be surprised if they whip Manning on Sunday. They are still lacking in defense somewhat, so as a defense I think they are somewhat overrated. But as a team overall they are far from overrated.

The Pats defense is over rated so that makes the whole team over rated huh? I think your hyped on crack and anyone else who thinks the Pats are over rated are smoking with you.

Think about this. When has the Pats D been put in a postion where they actually NEEDED to stop someone? When your playing from ahead by alot the whole game IMHO that makes the defense relax and not play up to their potential. The Pats defense isn't outstanding but they do have a good overall defense which I think we will see against the Colts this Sunday.

Correct me is I'm wrong but the defense is just as big as the offense correct? Maybe even bigger since it can actually stop the other team and score. I think the defense is overrated....

I'm tired of excuses.....the fact is they've kept their starters in the whole damn game....and they let three teams score in the upper 20s. The way people make it sound...you'd think they'd be shutting people down and murdering everyone every game. Spin, spin and spin it some more....they're not doing as good as you'd think by the way people talk about them. Fact is....that's overrated.

The Patriots D is definatly overrated...all of the TV channels are talking about how they have done so good with out Seymour and how they are going to get even better...does anybody realize that the offense carries this team? the only reason the D is good is because they can give up 30 points a game and still win if they wanted! Richard Seymour's career high in sacks was 8 in 2003, not very impressive at all.

When your offense can score as much as they can, then your defense doesn't have to be great. A KILLER Offense will balance out your overrated tho decent defense.

...and that defense can be shut down if it needs to be IMO. They haven't had a reason to have their foot on the gas most of the season. There's a lot of talent there.

You do have some good points I just happen to disagree. IMHO alot of questions are going to be answered after this game is said and done.

The statement "they're not doing as good as you'd think by the way people talk about them" is funny considering they haven't lost a game and are destroying defenses. How much better can they play for you to consider them "good"?

I feel they are overrated as a team...because as a TEAM defense and offense they are overrated lol. The offense is hyped like it should be....but the defense is hyped like it should not. When talking about the patriots everyone acts like the defense is on the offenses level......when it's not. People questioning how I could call them overrated need to check out the definition of the word.

Explain to me how the most important part of a team is overrated but the team itself is not? To me it makes as little sense as something possibly can.

First off there are THREE PARTS player wise to every team, special teams, defense, and offense. Two of them are exceptional NO QUESTION, the defense is not "over rated" ( still TWO WORDS if you could remember anything other people post) as no one here to my knowledge or on any national broadcast I have seen have said the Pats have just as good of a defense as their offense. Everything I have heard, seen, etc indicates they are average to above average on defense. Two parts exceptional one part average EQUALS for anyone with "simple logic" (yeah I read it before you got to edit it logic isn't so simple at 3am is it?) NOT OVER RATED (STILL TWO WORDS which I gave you the definition to a couple posts back since you obviously don't know what it means)

Hell No are the only words I can come up with. They continue to play as a unit week in and week out and Tom Brady is so on fire it looks like they can go undefeated with the way he is playing right now.

Being overrated is all about hype. When you hype something up and give it more credit than it deserves...that's overrating. The defense is being over hyped...aka overrated. What do you listen to or read? Maybe you can tell me so I can tune into that.....cause all I see and hear is people overrating that defense. You got 22 starters.....11 of them are overrated......I'll take my chances calling the team overrated....makes sense.
