Enough About T.o. Already!!!!
I just went to NFL.com. The lead story is that T.O. has made his debut on the field in a Dallas uniform. Here's a quote from the beginning of the story:
Let the record show his first reception for the Cowboys was a 6-yard gain on a quick out to the right sideline at the start of the next drive. It was thrown by backup Tony Romo, who before the game received a contract extension through next season. Romo later threw wide of Owens on second-and-goal from the 4. Do we REALLY need play by play on a 6-yard out pattern to be part of a lead story on NFL.com? Are we to take this to mean that being a self-centered, egotistical baby off-field should garner MORE attention than a player's on-field performance? The fact that T.O. is the most recognizable name out there right now, and he only just caught his first pass in a pre-season game this year should tell us something. Sadly, I liked T.O. for his talent when he first came up.... Had he only relied on that he'd be in the spotlight for far more meaningful things. |

I agree with this, the media has really gone overboard with the TO coverage. Does anybody really care THIS much about one WR. I mean yeah he's good but for goodness sake this is getting ridiculous. For f's sake its his job to play football why is that such a big story?
Although there is some irony in a thread to discuss how there is too much TO coverage ![]() |

I agree that there is Irony is discussing this guy here...honestly, does anyone really care? No. But yes, yes they do. Everyone is interested in how his stay in Dallas is going to work out. Most people either want to see him catch for 1,000 yards, or fail misserably this year. I don't care too much about T.O. himself, but I am interested to see how he helps the team win and/or self destruct.

ummm, this is whwat happens people. the media doesnt stop with him, no matter where he goes or what he does. the media follows and reports everything about him because there is ALWAYS a story. even when theres not a story...they turn it into a story. thats one reason why TO will always be a disruption...it wont stop anytime soon. his selfish attitude doesnt help either.

Somebody must want it if they keep broadcasting it. Or, the media *thinks* somebody wants it. Who knows why, I'm sure everyone on the face of the earth is sick of hearing of his ongoing injury by now. Enough already!

I think the only one NOT sick of hearing about T.O. is T.O. And frankly, that's the problem... When there's no real story about him, he'll make one.

I think I have to respectfully disagree. Someone put it perfectly during an interview.... Sorry I don't recall who it was because I was in a hospital peeking at someone else's TV at the time. A coach or player pointed out that TO went over the line with the Sharpie incident. I had to agree with this because the Sharpie incident was pre-meditated, which is not only disrespectful to his opponents and to the game in general, but it is also a measure of TO's egotistical need to be the center of attention above all else, even the game. The fact that the Sharpie incident was so contrived, and not a "caught in the moment" expression of excitement is what makes it different from any other player's acts of celebration.
As for the media, while it's true everything would die down if they didn't cover TO's antics, you can't blame them for all the attention they pay TO because they're just doing their jobs. TO's job is to play football. The media's job is to cover what happens on and off the field. TO is the one creating the non-sense (NOT his job); The media is covering it (IS their job). |

Breaking news on ESPN right now...apparently TO has just went to the bathroom. Ed Werder is on the scene and will be on PTI and the 6 PM sportscenter.

Not washing his hands would definitely draw a penalty flag. I'd say it's a 15-yarder considering he used a stall, not a urinal!!!!
