Bills TE Everett undergoes neck surgery (AP)

Kevin Everett had surgery Sunday evening, hours after the Buffalo Bills reserve tight end showed no signs of movement after sustaining a severe neck injury in the team's season opener against Denver. Bills spokesman Scott Berchtold said he was informed by the team's medical staff the player went into surgery at a Buffalo hospital at about 8 p.m.

Kevin Everett Thread

Anything Re: Everett tragedy should go here. Prayers, thoughts, and wishes go out from me, my family, and my friends, to Everett, his family, and his friends. Nothing like this is ever anything but disturbing.

Hopefully, he will one day walk again...

All the best, my prayers and thoughts are with him. The worst part is he gets hurt doing something he loves, playing the game. It really puts things in perspective though.

Just heard on sportscenter that Kevin could walk again.

That's great news!

Report: Doctor says Everett has voluntary movement of arms, legs
Quote:
Kevin Everett might walk again, after all.

The doctor who performed the spinal surgery on Everett told Buffalo TV station WIVB on Tuesday that Everett has voluntary movement of his arms and legs and as a result he is optimistic that Everett will walk again.

Send out Texas sized vibes to Everett and his family. God Bless the dude.

I have another question along the same line. Who was the Eagles player from the early 90s that had a similiar hit and was paralyzed. My dad and I were trying to remember his name.

New York Giants

cervical SCI's[spinal cord injuries] are kinda like rolling dice, especially at his level of injury he may walk but no arm or finger control. Bowell and blatter control become more important than sex. There are so many nerve bundles at the C3-C4 level DR's have no idea what conditions or abilities the patient will have, it becomes quality of life and Quadrapligic patients eventually get para-envy in many cases! He has just joined a frat that wants no new members but if you do become a member you have a family / a friend / or support system unlike any other, I unfortunately am one

I believe he's from Texas as well, so like TCT said, we send out a Texas sized god bless to Kevin Everett.

That is awesome! I don't know if he will be able to play again, and i don't know if he will want to, but if he does that will be amazing. He will be a fan favorite if he does come back. I wish him well and hope he makes a complete, if not as close as possible, recovery.
