Vick's co-defendent pleads guilty

SI.com - NFL - One Vick co-defendant opts for plea agreement - Saturday July 28, 2007 12:24AM

Never a good sign when your co-defendent cops a plea (and admits that the alleged crimes are no longer alleged, they are true) and then starts helping the prosecution.

Update. He pleads guilty and doesn't elaborate on the plea deal.

damning evidence towards vick, but then again i've seen good defense attorneys use pleas to help their clients get off the hook. I highly doubt this will help vick tho.

Did anyone actually think that this was not going t happen..at the first chance to save themselves, they turned on vick. Just like i knew they would..no honor among thieves.

They will spill thier guts if it will help them in any way. Besides, the feds could care less about nailing the low men on the totem pole, they want vick.

SI.com - NFL - Vick co-defendant pleads guilty to dogfighting charges - Monday July 30, 2007 1:30PM

The hole is digging deeper.

The codefendent that plead guilty signed the indictment and testified that all claims contained are factual.

He elaborated on those claims by saying Vick bankrolled the entire operation(what would be the logical assumption anyway).

It is going to be real interesting to hear how Vick defends himself against these charges. You have considerable physical evidence, eye witness testimony and now one of the codefendants admitting guilt.

It’s getting harder and harder not allowing due process to just stay its course. I would not fault anyone for vilifying Vick or assuming he’s guilty because the charges and accusations are becoming overwhelming. The more this case progresses, the guiltier he seems to be perceived. I’m still waiting for him to have his day in court so I can size him up as either being falsely accused or literally blowing smoke up everybody’s ass. But as of right now; things are definitely not looking good for Vick.

I agree, but now the concern is, even if he is guilty how is he gonna get a fair trial with all the media coverage. If vick can find the right lawyer he still may walk away with not much more than a slap on the wrist, is it right? no, but thats the way the court systems CAN work SOMETIMES

The News-Press, news-press.com, Sports, Deion column: Don't be too quick to judge Vick

First off, Deion is an idiot. Secondly if has kids I hope he's not proof reading their English homework.

Lets be clear on one thing, this guilty plea is HUGE. It changes the scope of the case.

Before, the prosecution had to first build their case and prove to the jury that dog fighting occured. Then they had to go on to show who all was involved.

The guilty plea of one of the codefendents does the first part for them. Between all the circumstantial evidence and the admission by this codefendant, it is now all but impossible for the defense to say that were just breeding dogs. Now there is little to no doubt what was going on there.

Now, we have Vick owning a house that was used for dog fighting. His defense rests on his lawyer's ability to convince a jury that he had no clue what was going on at the house he owned. That was a tall order before, but now he has a codefendent along with multiple other eye witnesses plus whatever additional evidence they have up their sleave.

I will say this, if Vick wants to get off, he had best paid for everything with cash. Or had somebody else pay for everything. Receipts with his name on it start turning for dogs and kennels and that "I am ignorant" line is a goner. Those are even harder to refute than multiple eye witness testimonies.
