ESPN - Miami releases disgruntled Culpepper - NFL
Culpepper has finally been released. Where will he go next? Rumors have it that he's going to Jacksonville.

Atlanta would be a good fit for Culpepper. I could also see Oakland and the Redskins getting into the mix. If Oakland would try and get Culpepper it would be so they wouldn't have to rush Russel, and the Redskins would be interested because they like big name players, and love to spend. Plus Jason Campell isn't the best starter.

I hope the Dirty Birds get Culpepper, cuz I don't wanna be seeing Joey Harrington be a starter.

With Bulger in his last year, Frerotte only a fill-in options and what's-his-face as more project than prospct, Culpepper represents leverage. Sign him, and now there is a Plan B who has a successful relationshipwith the head coach for next season should Bulger's demands be too high.

Daunte is in a tough spot. Training camps start this weekend, so most QBs have already been going over their playbook for weeks/months. Daunte has a ton of catch-up to do in an area that isn't exactly his strong suit. More so, teams don't usually like to rock the QB boat this late in the off-season. The time to add QBs was around the draft, not just before camp. Third, not a lot of teams need another QB. Some considerations: Falcons. For obvious reasons. Daunte would actually be a good fit here. Daunte is at his best when he can read a defense and work his progressions. He isn't a timing pattern QB. Here, they have a number of big WRs who can get deep and win the 50/50 throws. On top of that, the Falcons have the underneath options that Daunte excels with. Just a matter of what the team wants to do with Vick. Daune wants to go to a team where he can start (if not this year, then next) and that won't happen if Blank keeps his love-fest with Vick. Ravens. This would be an ideal fit IMO. Boller will be a UFA after this year and not going to resign. Culpepper put up multiple 40+ TD seasons in the system Billick designed and would have a year to learn/heal under McNair. Seems like a win-win situation... only question is the cap room. Jacksonville. Leftwich is in the final year of his contract, hasn't lived up to expectations and can't stay healthy. I can see them dumping him for what-ever they can get and going with Daunte as a starter and Garrard as Plan B. Keep in mind, Tice got along well with Daunte and is the Assistant Head Coach. Longshots- Bengals could use an upgrade at back-up, but I very much doubt that will make Daunte happy. Lions. They seem sold on Kitna. Why, I don't know, but they are. Stanton is slated for the future, so that doesn't leave much in between. It seems unlikely that Millen would dump Kitna and sign Daunte. Rams. Bulger has only 1 year left, and may be asking for more than the team is willing to pay for an injury prone, good but not great, QB. Nobody behind Bulger is capable of starting next season. Culpepper represents Plan B to get Bulger to come down in price. He would be a pawn here, but Daunte is his own agent and might not see it that way. Redskins. They seem sold on Campbell. I can't see them adding another QB this year. If Campbell fails, then maybe next summer.

It's just one of the many things that make the Lions the Lions.
