He was still a Pro Bowler in his late 30's so he has to be a top 2 or 3 CB in my opnion.I never saw Jimmy Johnson Or Tunnell that is why I don't have them higher or not ranked.
IMO, there are 2 primary roles a CB has: prevent pases and make plays (INTs). Secondary to that is supporting the run.

Dick "NightTrain" Lane is the only CB who stood out in all three areas. He is still the All-Time leader in INTs, took away half the field and was a big-time hitter. He would be one of the biggest CBs in the league if he played today... and he played 40 years ago. People don't realize just how potent he was.

Sanders was a creampuff when it came to tackling, but was the best cover and playmaking CB I have ever seen. Only reason his INT totals are not higher is that teams simply refused to throw to his side of the field.

Flip a coin between the two and you have the best ever. My pick is Lane, because he could do everything and do it great.

As for Green... he wasn't in those two class when it came to playmaking. Cover? Sure, but to be "the best" you need to be a stand-out in everyway. He was just a "good" playmaker... and that might be pushing it. Longevity and speed have caused him to be somewhat over-rated IMO. While be belongs among the best ever, the debate should be if he makes the cut as a top-10... not the #1. Rephrased, at no point in his career was he considered the best CB in the league, so how can somebody who was never the best CB in a season be called the best ever?

I'd definately have Darrell Green in my top 5, and I'd have Deion as #1

1. Deion Sanders
2. Rod Woodson
3. Darrell Green

I think Deon "Primetime" Sanders has to be the best corner of all time in my opinion no doubt. He could do EVERYTHING! Return, cover, catch, run routes.

Deion is by far the absolute best cover corner ever! But as far as the whole package would have to put Darrell Green at #1.

If I needed a corner for 1 game I would take Darrell Green as far as package an attitude. If I needed a corner to guarantee that he was going to shut someone down for this one game it would be Deion.
