John York is the devil. It's amazing how one man can bring down of the best organizations in all of sports.
It's going to be another long year. |

I agree with that.. I don't see much turning around over there anytime soon..
It is amazing that they were once one of the top organizations in football, and now they are pretty much the laughing stock. Lets hope Alex Smith can really progress this year and help them be more competitive. I wouldn't count on it though.. |

The crappy part is that since the Niners suck now they are NEVER on Tv. They used to be on Fox every week.

to be honest, I dont think many people would want to watch the niners if they were on TV..
Hopefully they can really get things turned around over there. They do got some good young talent. They just can't keep letting all their best talent leave via free agency |

I feel your pain, KJ. I too am a tortured Niners fan. Too bad the ones that are making that organization such a horrible one, are the only ones you can’t fire.

Truer words could not have been spoken. Until York dies, sells the team, or realizes he is an idiot and appoints someone else to run the team we are screwed

Mike Nolan is a nice start, unfortunately he can't throw the deep out pattern and neither can his QB. Chin up, things can turn around very fast in the No Fun League...the cap is a wonderful thing for parity.

You should meet my brother the tortured Niners fan and go out for a beer.
The lean years are on them, but if anything I see a lot of potential for the future. Nolan's a great catch as a coach provided he's allowed to do his job, there's a potential superstar under center, and a good crop of new talent coming in on the defensive side of the ball. With a few good drafts in place, a solid base of young talent, and York staying in the office where he belongs, they could be a contender again. It could be worse, you could be a Jets fan. ![]() |

Any one watch the game on Friday? I tivoed the replay on NFL network. I like the Smith-Bryant connection, looks like Bryant willl be the first playmaking WR the 49ers have had since TO that's willing to go over the middle (*cough* Lloyd *cough*). Gore looked like he didn't miss a beat from the end of last season, he should beat out Barlow who has been a disaster since getting that big contract. Vernon didn't do much, but it's just preseason...hopefully Johnson can stay healthy because those two guys can be a good combo. Starters on defense did a nice job, but the Bears offense is terrible. Spencer is becoming a really good corner, now he just needs someone else on the other side to help out. He did a good job on Muhammad on Friday. Again, it's only preseason, but I like what I saw and Smith looks a lot more confident back there. I don't think this team will compete for a playoff spot, but I don't think a 6 win season is out of the question.
