Kitna and the O-Linemen for playing as good as they have throughout their careers? Or the Offensive Coordinator who ignored their shortcomings and passed >70% of the time anyway?
all true, its more like a circus in Detroit.

I have never remembered Kitna or their OL being good.

That is kinda the point. Kitna had, arguably, the best season of his career.

The offensive line is actually OK, with only the RT a weak link. Raiola, Woody, Backus and Mulitalo are all solid players. What is notable is that all four of them are known as MUCH better run blockers than pass blockers.

More so, the Lions ran 3-deep at RB with Jones, Bell and Ducket as all legit NFL players.

So with a big mauling line, a deep crew of RBs and a marginal QB, Martz decides to throw far more than any other team.

The weakest link, BY FAR, was an idiot Offensive Coordinator who tried to shoe-horn in "his system" despite the lack of talent to execute it. More so, "his system" is so absurdly lopsided that it is all but impossible to be effective. Unless you have an elite QB, a great line to pass protect for him and an opportunistic that can get itself off the field in a hurry, your team is going to struggle. Lions were 0-3 and decided to pass >70% of the time anyway.

Run blockers that had one season with a 1,000 yard rusher back in 04', I wouldn't call them run blockers but I get the point Martz passes 70% of the time and that won't mix well with the players SF has now. I understand that won't work with the 9ers so I hope Nolan can create a balance with Martz once he sees the potential in Gore as Turner did.

San Francisco 49ers kitna, martz, and the 49ers future.

john kitna has been sacked more times than any other quarterback since he took over as starter. the lions have been to exactly 0 super bowls. in fact they have only been to 1 nfc championship games and lost 41-10. they never have been a good team. martz is one great coach. look what he did in st louis. from 3-13 to 14-2 and a super bowl. his team lead the nfl in yards. faulk was the running back warner at qb bruce and holt at wr. very potent offense. in sf he will have a better defense lead by defensive rookie of the year pro bowler and nfl leading tackle patrick willis. nate clements shuts down one half of the field. get some speed rushers to help manny lawson and banta-cain and there you go top 5 defense. the 49ers future is very bright indeed. the only setback that could happen is if they dont give alex smith enough time to develop. he needs more time. other than that the 49ers will be divison winners if not super bowl champs within 5 years.

Arizona Cardinals Mike Singletary

So far I like what I see with Mike Singletary. He had the 49ers ready to play against the Cards and came up one yard short of winning this game.

...And then they were schooled by a re-emerging Dallas. I wonder if it's an omen that Steve Young and Jerry Rice are guests on the Biggest Loser this tonight.
