Just an awful game mental breakdowns and penalties just killed them. OL and the backs are giving the QB no time to throw the ball. Smiley needs to be replaced by Baas, A.Smith left the game in the 1st quarter with a shoulder injury. Dilfer is a statue back there Hill might be a better choice. Defense is playing as good as it can get with all the 3 and outs from the offense. This game could of been a lot uglier as many chances Seattle got getting good field position every time. Down to the 3rd string TE, M Lewis made his return debut taking a punt inside the 10 for 3yds. Don't know if Gores hand is still hurting him, he had two fumbles right away but played much better in the end. Had a great chance to take the division lead at home and blew it.

At the half and nothings changed. Dilfer gets sacked and the offense goes 3 and out. Defense can only do so much, good job holding them to 2 FG's on the goal line. 3 rookies starting for the OL on the same side and Gore running up the middle verse one of the best defenses in the NFL just isn't working. Got robbed on a bad PI call for 35 yards which led to the 1st FG.

Dilfer may be a good teacher to Alex but hes not a good QB to play he just doesn't move around. If Dilfer remains our QB for long we won't be in the running for even a WC but as i type this Dilfer just hit a TD to battle.

Poor play calling 3rd and 9 so you run Gore up the middle to settle for a 52 yard FG what a joke.

Hey, why dont you guys play Giovanni Carmazzi, the 2nd QB taken in 2000?
Apparently your brass thought he was better than Tom Brady and Marc Bulger, so why not let him play? lol, looks like another 5-11 season for the 49ers...thats what stupid draft picks do to a team.

Brady and Bulger weren't drafted till the 6th round, Carmazzi was drafted 3rd round. When your starter is injured for the year thats a problem for any team.

Smith returns to Niners' starting lineup
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Alex Smith is ready to find out whether he's the solution to the San Francisco 49ers' offensive woes. The quarterback will start Sunday against New Orleans, returning from a four-week absence because of a separated shoulder. Smith went through his second full day of practice Thursday, leading the first-teamers through workouts with no discomfort."To have to sit out the last few games and not be able to help out your team, it was tough," Smith said. "When you get to this point in the season, you're playing for the guys next to you. I'm proud to be back in the huddle." Smith hasn't played since injuring his right shoulder on the third play of San Francisco's 23-3 loss to Seattle on Sept. 30. San Francisco has lost four straight with an offense mired near the bottom of the league in most statistical categories. Coach Mike Nolan nearly used Smith last week against the New York Giants, but elected to hold out the former No. 1 overall draft pick despite his offense's profound struggles this season. "It's not so much my confidence in him, it's his confidence in taking reps (in practice)," Nolan said. "I expect him to play well, and he looked good. He looked healthy today." Smith was 43-of-84 for 461 yards and just one touchdown this season, but the 49ers won twice in their first three games while he was healthy. Trent Dilfer had similar statistics after replacing Smith, but the 14-year veteran had a hand in four turnovers in last week's loss to the Giants. San Francisco is last in the NFL in several categories, including total yards, first downs and yards passing. Nolan acknowledges the Niners have taken a step back after last season, when they had a solid, balanced attack under coordinator Norv Turner. Running back Frank Gore also expects to play Sunday despite a sprained ankle. Gore was limited in practice for the second straight day, mostly confining his workouts to individual drills. "It was all right, and it'll get better day by day," said Gore, who has just 394 yards rushing after leading the NFC last year. "We'll just wrap it up, and I'll try to go out there and play on it." Left tackle Jonas Jennings is unlikely to play after injuring his ankle last week, with Adam Snyder expected to replace him. Receiver Darrell Jackson also missed his second day of practice Thursday with a quadriceps injury. Thank you Jesus, I don't think he's 100% but anyone is better then Dilfer, now if only the OL could get healthy.

A.Smith only 50%, Gore only 12 carries, V.Davis probably his best game yet 70yds and a TD. The Defense looked horrible either the OC has to go or Nolan better find a new job.

It's not Nolan it's just a matter of getting everyone healthy and back on the same page. When we go missing our QB it affects the whole team and they will play differently so naturally when he comes back (when hes still not 100%) its going to take another adjustment period. Gore is banged up and even V. Davis has been banged up it's just been a bad season so far for injuries.

Seems to be that way every year and Gore re-injured his ankle.

Yes, the Lions draft picks over the last 20 years are actually worse, I cannot deny that.
And I know thats the reason for all the bad seasons...people talk about coaches and free agents, etc...but if you look at the great teams, they do it thru the draft.
