1-0 9ERS, overall a good win Nolans first against Arizona. Defense was very solid holding the high octane passing game of the Cards to just over 100 yards. Alex Smith did good not throwing any picks but has got to throw the ball away when under pressure or run if he's got room. He took 3 sacks and gave them a forced fumble. Gore wasn't too bad, he had some good runs with a 6 yard TD. Arizona was really focused on him causing some dropped passes but he's never had a problem with that, his hand might still be bothering him. WR's dropped some key passes and TE Davis wasn't thrown too enough. Willis was a tackling machine with 11 and knocking Leinart down a few times. Very impressed with the DB's, they kept the ball out of the hands of their 2 probowl receivers with both Harris and Spencer getting INT's. Great game winning drive couldn't have been better thanks to Smith's run on 4th and 1 also Arnez with a great catch luckily the ball bounced the 9ERS way. Rams up next in Saint Louie, I see a 2-0 start with a few minor changes.

Love it when the 9ers do good. Was a good game. Our passing game looked pretty mint. Defence is solid, Alex Smith was good. Frank Gore needs to do something about his catching (hand problem?). Overall, impressed with it.

2-0 9ERS both division opponents and getting a big win in the very difficult Edward Jones Dome. Gore with a good game getting 2 TD's and one for 43 yards. Alex Smith no INT's going 11 for 17 but taking 4 sacks. D-Jack with 61 yards and 3 receptions not enough plays to V. Davis only 2 for 23 yards. Defense was very solid again containing Jackson while keeping pressure on Bulger with 5 sacks and knocking him down the whole game also holding the Rams to a 53 yard field goal which Wilkins missed in the end to give them the win. Way too many turn overs fumbling twice giving the Rams 10 points. Great job by special teams getting the punt return fumble setting up the game winning field goal.

9ers are back in winning form and I love it. Was a good game, only watched parts of it. Gore looked decent, D impressed again. Good job, 2-0!

Yup 2-0 for the first time since 1999 i believe. We need to get A. Smith into passing more or we could be hurt more down the stretch if we can't get him going. I am loving this great start by us though. We have a tough week 3 ahead though against the Steelers.

Pittsburgh looks really good, but I like this Niners team.

They will give Pittsburgh a game, I feel confident in that.

49ers at Steelers, the Steelers should win, but the Niners have a good team and are clicking on just about every cylinder. I wouldn't be surprised if the Niners beat the Steelers, but it is a tough game.

The San Francisco 49ers suffered their first major injury blow of the season Thursday when they learned linebacker Manny Lawson was lost for the season because of a torn ACL.
Lawson suffered the knee injury late in practice Wednesday and a subsequent MRI revaled the tear. He will require season-ending surgery and will eventually be placed on the injured reserve list. "I heard a pop, and I remember what (teammate) C.J. Brewer had talked about when he (injured his knee), so I was nervous," Lawson told the team's Web site. "I tried to test it out, but really I just had to wait for the MRI." Lawson was a first-round draft pick in 2006 who signed a five-year deal worth a maximum value of $10.14 million. In 16 games as a rookie, including 11 starts, Lawson had 57 tackles, 2½ sacks, one interception and two passes defensed. This season, he was coming into his own this season as a pass-rusher. His likely replacement is veteran Hannibal Navies in the 49ers' 3-4 defense. ESPN.com senior writers John Clayton and Len Pasquarelli contributed to this report.

This is a huge loss with nobody good really to back him up they might have to go back to a 4-3 defense.

This is a huge loss for us but a long as P. Willis is still there (that guy is everywhere) we have a chance it's just going to be tougher and we need our passing game to get better.

Horrible calls cost the 9ERS any chance of winning that game. 1st call happened when it would of been 1st and goal at the 2, refs called a fumble when V. Davis was obviously down it was reviewed then ruled incomplete when Davis made two steps before going down with complete control of the ball causing them to settle for a FG. 2nd call came on the Steelers next possession driving the ball 3rd down just in FG range Benny under pressure throws the ball away in the pocket which should of been intentional grounding bringing a loss of down and taking them out of FG range. With those two calls the game could of been 14-17 being they get a two point conversion after a TD with the right call in the first mistake. Next drive 9ERS in FG range had to go for a TD pass causing a sack when they would of ran and settled for the FG to tie the game. Steelers then ran away with it when San Fran was two possessions out of it and not enough time to catch up. Special teams gave a TD right off the bat which wasn't a good start 9ERS then got a fumble from Benny in the red zone but settling for a FG, gotta get TD's with gifts like that. Way too many FG's in this game, you never win big games like that. Not a great game out of A. Smith going 17/35 but getting rid of the ball when needed and only had an INT when the game was already over. Gore was contained the whole game, great defense by the Steelers all around. Benny was very accurate and on almost every play eluding sacks when it counted. V. Davis left the game late with a knee sprain hope he's okay cause he really had a good game.

Looks like V. Davis is going to be lost to us for 2 weeks with a sprained knee.

Just more and more bad news for them. First Lawson now Davis. If they can bounce back, they have a great shot, seeing as the Rams are 0-3

What do you guys think about our chances this week? Seattle has looked pretty good this year, but we do have a recent history of beating them

With the potent offence San Fran has of late, I love our chances. If we stop the pass, they are one dimensional, and then it's a W from there. Give the ball to Duke and Gore, and they won't be able to stop it.
