Saints + Horn = Classy Move
The Saints should make an offer to Horn, once again, now that he's been cut from the Falcons. It's not so much for the talent and leadership which he still has, but because of what he's done in the past for the franchise... It'd be nice, if Horn's come to the realization that his years/days are numbered, that he return to the city and team that made him who his is today... It would also provide some decent mentoring to guys like Colston and the rest of the young players... That's if he'd go for a low enough fee... Thoughts?

It was Horn that left after the Saints asked him to restructure his extension. The Saints maintained that it was Horn who wanted to be released to test his value, they said the door was always open (within the contract restraints of course) for him to return. I know the Saints want to see guys like Meachem, Henderson, Copper et al get tons of reps to evaluate them more sufficiently, I'm not sure if Horn is in their plans considering all their depth at that position and that they need to evaluate some of these kids more thoroughly. Plus I don't know if Horn wants to come crawling back, so to speak. It didn't quite work out as well as he planned. If the Cowboys have interest like it's rumored they do, he should sign there as they certainly give him the better chance to win as it were.

Horn was cut in no small part due to his attitude problems.
Same reason why he left the Saints. And a contributing factor to why the Saints routinely underachieved year-after-year during his tenure there. Horn was one of the bad locker room influences that the Saints were better off to see go. They would be fools to bring him back. Let him go complain and feud with teammates for some other team.

I always got the idea that he was a leader on the team, this was at least the media showcased him after the floodings and what not. It was also shown that he was an active member in the NO area after Katrina...
I understand that money is a big part of it, but his attitude always came across, at least to me, as a guy that called it like he saw it and often chewed out guys that were later found to be dogs and in hind sight, have since been let go from the team... That being said, apparently there is a market for his as apparently the Cowboys, Miami and a few other teams have their eyes on him now...

Joe Horn was my favorite player and I was pissed when they released him, but he's past his prime and he wants too much money. Ride off while you can still hold your head up, Joe.

I don't think it was a large factor in their demise. Factors such as Haslett's shtick eventually wearing thin, Aaron Brooks continually turning the ball over in key spots and the fact that they were among the very worst teams in points allowed year after year during those mediocre years after the first playoff win were all much larger mitigating factors to a lack of success than any antics Horn displayed. When they won their playoff game during Haslett's 1st year in 2000, they were 10th in points allowed. The subsequent years where they were either .500, slightly above or slightly below, they were 27th, 26th, 14th, 27th and 28th during the 3-13 season. Nothing Horn could do was going to improve that.

Why would the Saints want a head case in Horn, they have bigger fish to fry namely their woeful secondary and Gary Gibbs watered down scheming.
your offense will give defensive coordinators nightmares but at the same time your defense will give offensive coordinators wet dreams. |

Not gonna happen, Saints are going young and fast which Horn is neither. Horn is a slower possession receiver at best at this point in his career.
