Saints signing of Mark Brunell

I was wondering why did the Saints sign Mark Brunell as a back up He wasn't very good with the Redskins. He can't throw the deep ball anymore and he can't run like he use to with the Jags. We were pretty happy when the Skins finally released him in March.

He'll be a decent backup and that's all the Saints really need at this point.

... Oh and apprently a power runner so that Reggie can apprently produce some "real" yards on the ground this year... LOL!!!

That thought still makes me laugh, how having a better power back can make Reggie more effective... Line men I could see, another feature back... Should take touches and yards away from Reggie...

Does Vinnie Testaverdie ring any bells? What about Jr. Seau? Players simply mean "they haven't gotten any good offers in a while, so rather then sit around in the FA pool a look like a douche, they'll sit at home and wait until a team comes to them with a good offer".

This shows...

The fact that Mark Brunell is still employable in the NFL is a testament to how thin the Quarterback pool is in the league. Guys like Brunell, Dilfer and now Culpepper are going to hang around for several more years just because there aren't a whole lot of better options.

I submit this as evidence to all those who thought it was a mistake for the Packers to draft Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn in this year's draft. You can never have too much depth at the Quarterback position.
