Possible Saints 1st Round Choice(s)
Bored.
Here are a few of the possible picks the Saints will be looking at #10 overall. I will share my thoughts on them. 1. Keith Rivers OLB USC At 6'2 and change he has a ton of size and strength. Smart and well coached. Can pursue or stay at home with equal effectiveness. Doesn't take plays off. Doesn't display exceptional athleticism. Some durability concerns. Playing in a 4-3 in New Orleans should suit him. 2. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennessee St. Decent height at 6'1 and change, very fast/athletic. Very good on the ball, has the ability to be a big time playmaker. Can make an impact on special teams. The fact that he played at such a small school might scare the Saints away from drafting him this high. Lacks strength and might be dominated at the line by bigger wideouts. Highly durable. 3. Aqib Talib CB Kansas At just over 6 ft has average height but he is very strong. Great leaper. Can handle man coverage. Doesn't enjoy sticking his nose into run support. Has good strength but is not a big time hitter. Should be interesting to see if he plays a bit of WR at the next level as well as he has the athletic ability and hands. Can contribute in special teams as well. With the acquisitions of Jonathan Vilma and Randall Gay as well as Jason David being signed to the big deal and Dan Morgan being brought aboard it will be interesting to see if the Saints still choose to go either LB/CB with their 1st pick. I suspect failing someone like Sedrick Ellis falling (highly doubtful), they will indeed pick one of these guys. I am not privy to which one but my guess is they take Rivers mainly because he could prolly start right away and Vilma/Morgan are bigger questionmarks (both in terms of health and performance) than Gay.

The ones they have currently either have injury concerns (Vilma, Morgan) or effectiveness concerns (Evans, Shanle, Simoneau). They could also use help at CB, especially with McKenzie's knee surgery, however Rivers will likely be the BPA at #10.
