Yea that would be a good idea galloway is old. Theres not much to choose from now that the first week is done. I wonder why they dident choose to do something earlier.

They still have like 24-27million left. They have not went out and got a #1 receiver but time will tell how some of the younger guys do. If they can stay healthy and make it out of the preseason.

What good is a receiver if they don't have a guy to get it to em? They should have made a play for Anderson or Culpepper at QB, Berrian and/or Henry (to a short deal pending what happens with his case) at WR, and Maybe even made a play for Sporles at HB.

Yeah, I agree. Garcia had a decent year last year and he can still play pretty well when he's healthy.
In fact, I read an article the other day that said, essentially, if the Bucs can't get a longer term (2 - 3 year) deal done with Garcia, they may franchise him after the 2008 season. What does that say about how hard it is to find a quality starting QB in the NFL these days? I submit this as STFU evidence for all those who criticize the drafting of Brohm and Flynn by the Packers this year. ![]() |

Well here is the problem with Jeff Garcia... HE'S 38 FREAKING YEARS OLD!!! Come on already, like he expects the team to sign him to a long contract... Gimme a break he's a mobility guy, once his legs go, he doesn't have the arm to carry his game in the pros any more... What's wrong with him... I mean serisouly, this guys a mummy by NFL standards and you want them to make this guy the franchise... Are you insane... Given Gruden's history if keeping players long past due, I don't doubt it... But I mean come on already... Seriously, I can't beleive anyone can't see how not making a play for a young gun like Anderson to replace the aging wonder that is Jeff Garcia is a bad play...

Second of all, let's look at how other QB's in their late 30s have fared... Warren Moon - 38 - 4200 yards with the Vikings in 1994 Warren Moon - 39 - 4200 yards with the Vikings in 1995 Warren Moon - 41 - 3700 yards with the Seahawks in 1997 Brett Favre - 38 - Pro Bowler - Fed Ex Air player of the year - One errant pass from the Superbowl. *cough* ![]() Rich Gannon - 37 - Led Raiders to the Superbowl with one of the all time great seasons ever. (Lost to injury in 2003 and 2004, but was playing well before he got hurt) Joe Montana - 38 - 3300 yards passing, 16 TDs vs. 9 picks Steve Young - 37 - 4200 yards passing Steve DeBerg was a legit NFL QB until he was 44... Bottom line? Tampa is a team that just now...this week...accepted the fact that JAKE PLUMMER is retired for good... AND they settled with him for $3.5 million of a $7 million signing bonus payback, even though they could have easily gotten it all if they would have even remotely tried. If I were Jeff Garcia, I'd be looking for $$$ too. The team is obviously desperate... |

So what you guys are saying is that you guys would put Garcia in with all of those stand out HOF QBs... That's rich... Gimme a break, of all the QBs in the league's history you guys pull out all of the HOF players that were on stacked teams... Garica is nowhere near as talented as those guys and the Buccs are far from as talented as those teams you guys just finnished mentioning that the other QBs were on... His day has come, and I wouldn't sign anything more then a year by year extention with him... He's one bad sack away from retired QB who "had a good season last season".

I don't know if you've noticed, but everytime someone younger comes around he's be ditched. He's been in the middle of two QB conflicts. Also, there has been a steady decrease in his output since 2000, with last year being a "passable" year. That being said, it was a decent year, but his workload was that heavy either. 20 other QBs had more attempts. He didn't see the heat that some of the others did. Seriously though, he's not the kind of guy you build a franchise around. He's a guy that you have until you can find someone better, younger and more dependable.
There's truth in my words, even if you don't think so. The proof is in the fact that he's been passed around for his last five season and has even stated that he's consider retireing if a new deal is not worked out... That kind of statment means that at any point and time, he could simply decide to pull the pin leaving the team to pay for a player which no longer even plays the game... He's a risk, as prooven in his previous seasons where he's seen a lot of heat...
