Plus he's old as sh*t. Jerrett and Smith will do great. Please ATL pick him up.

The hilarious part was how much he went on about he was gonna be teaching Jarrett the ins and outs of being a receiver on ESPN during the draft.

If they released him to save some critical and much needed cap space then I can understand, but if it is just to save some cash then I don't. Meshawn is still a solid receiver and they could really use his experience to develop and mentor Jarrett. Both guys from SC would have really made them click and with Meshawn they could have gotten Jarrett to learn and develop much quicker than without Meshawn. Bad, bad move by the Panthers IMO. They have really only Jarrett and Smith, and they could have used a solid 3rd WR in the slot.

it couldn't have been about cap space because his 3 mill bonus was paid up to date ... if they really wanted him, they could've kept him on the roster
I think it had more to do with Key's bad mouthing the coaching and when he said he wouldn't play if they fired a certain assistant coach. Even though he's getting old ... 1) he's paid 2) he's still a threat in the red zone and 3) he goes across the middle. So I don't feel too sorry for him, because he'll catch on somewhere else. |
