Okay... I hate the Bears. It comes with the territory when you're a lifelong Packers fan. However...

As much as I think Cedric Benson has made some poor decisions here (and on the boat), I think the Bears are wasting a good PR opportunity (and draft pick) for themselves and the NFL by waiving him. They should check him into 30 days of rehab and pay for it and use it as motivation for him to have a great season. If he screws up, then the Bears look like heroes for trying. If he comes through, the Bears are heroes for succeeding. They can't lose...

Alcohol abuse is a tough thing. I know more about it than I'd like to. I hope he beats it and gets his career and life back on track.

Cant say i agree with that.

First and foremost, I am a Pats/Bears fan. I was stoked when the bears drafted Benson and i thought he was going to be the running back of the future, but he has been a sheer dissapointment since then.

I tried to overlook the first incident, but i cant overlook the second. The best thing the bears could have done was release him, for that may serve as they wake up call that he needs.

I'd love nothing more than to see him get it together and catch on somewhere else, and display the skills that made him a first round selection, but as long as he keeps getting the world handed to him, it'll never happen.
