2008 Green Bay Packers Season analysis.

Ok it may be a bit early to predict a season but I am going to post the schedule and see how it breaks down. Of course since this is early I will of course not be able to predict who the sleepers this year are so this one is my figuring on the 19th of May I may change it up again before the season starts.

Week 1 vs Minnesota Vikings
Week 2 @ Detroit Lions
Week 3 vs Dallas Cowboys
Week 4 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 5 vs Atlanta Falcons
Week 6 @ Seattle Seahawks
Week 7 vs Indianapolis Colts
Week 8 BYE
Week 9 @ Tennessee Titans
Week 10 @ Minnesota Vikings
Week 11 vs Chicago Bears
Week 12 @ New Orleans Saints
Week 13 vs Carolina Panthers
Week 14 vs Houston Texans
Week 15 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Week 16 @ Chicago
Week 17 vs Detroit Lions

First thing the schedule seems very balanced, its not front heavy (like the Rams with 5 of the first 7 games against playoff teams) or back heavy seems really balanced.

First back to back road trip is week 9 and 10 (the bye week is before this which will help), than week 15 and 16 all of which are tougher teams, I'm not saying Green Bay wont win them but they will be ones that are going to be fights.

Here is my predictions as of now.

Wins: Vikings (both) , Detroit (both), Atlanta, Seahawks, Titans, Chicago, Saints, Panthers, Texans,

Losses: Dallas, Bucs, Colts, Chicago, Jaguars

So that is 11-5. I think that is perfectly attainable barring any huge injuries. Really any of those teams have been mentioned in sleeper talks at some point but even if they are I think Green Bay has what it takes to beat these teams. Of course Detroit might take the last game if we aren't playing for anything at that point but I believe we will still be playing for a first round bye.

What does everyone else think?

Green Bay Packers Well...

I share your optimism and I think the Packers have the talent on defense to stay in games even if Rodgers doesn't play all that great early on. If Rodgers does even remotely well (say, better than Rex Grossman), then I think the Packers have a shot to be competitive in just about every game this year.

I'm hoping for 10 - 6 and a playoff berth, but realistically in the first year of the post-Favre era, I'd be happy with any record over .500.

Also, I don't want to see the Packers get swept by the Bears again this year. That's just wrong.

The Bears have their own issues to deal with this season, so I doubt that they'll be pulling the sweep again this year.

I don't think 10+ is out of the question, as was stated they're stong on D and D wins games. If they get decent production out of their younger squad on offence, the sky's the limit really. Young RB, QB, and WRs can be a huge boost to a franchise if they all come together and play well as a unit... Just ask a Cowboys fan... Now I'm not saying that they're THAT good, but given time, who knows... I'll be watching them, that's for sure...

Yeah whereas time is working against Dallas with some of their most important players far from rookiees Dallas need to s*** or get off the pot they got a window they are looking at of a couple of years to win a championship, a good way to start that is actually winning a playoff game to start.

If they blow this year like the last two they will no longer be an elite team in my opinion. I think they are on thin ice now. They have talent but Talent does not mean championship ask the Patriots. If they don't get another championship in the next few years fans will grow frustrated and that stadium may not fill up as easy as it does now.
