I think the Redskins should retire the #21 jersey but it will probably never happen though. In my opinion Sean Taylor was the best safety in the game at the time of his death. He was leading the league in interceptions, and he ended up making the Pro Bowl for the 2nd straight year. He was taking steps since he had been in the league to be the best safety in the NFL and he finally was putting both his hard hitting ability and pass coverage speed/ball hawk talents together. I honestly believe he would of been making the Pro Bowl for years to come and would of been a Hall of Fame player.

Just to let everyone know im not a Redskin homer. I dont think any other player on the Skins roster right now will make the HOF except maybe Clinton Portis and thats a longshot. I really believed Sean Taylor was going to own the NFL and offenses for the next 10 years. I know alot of fans of other teams and even alot of Redskin fans disagree with my opinion about retiring the jersey but I think he was cheated out of his life, family, and football career. I think a man with his ability and also his potenial combined with his tragic death should have his jersey retired. Once again this is all just my opinion on a subject that is really sad to even talk about knowing he will never be with his family or on the football field again. I think a Man who protected his family and gave up so much in return deserves this honor. That is just my humble opinion on this subject though.

He did? I guess they did`nt put it in the news. You would expect people to put it in the conversation. Are you sure?

A Clinton Portis Quote "I'm devastated that Sean died but I'm happy to know he died protecting his family"

If they want too...I wouldn't whether fans want to admit it he didn't play long enough to do anything special. I believe that's the only way you should get your number retired by what you did in your career not what happens off the field.

Being that I'm a Cane, this will obviously come across very biased BUT Sean Taylor would have gone down as the greatest safety to ever play this game. The guy was a freak of nature as far as playing football. He hit like Ronnie Lott...covered like Darrell Green and was a fierce leader on the football field. I had the priviledge of seeing him play since his high school days at Gulliver Prep to THE U to the NFL and he was one of a kind. There was a reason his NFL peers called him MEAST. Half man...Half beast.

Tragic ending to what could have been a a Hall of Fame career. Sean Taylor R.I.P.

Having said all that, potential alone or "what could have been" should not be reason enough for a jersey to be retired. He should be remembered and honored a different way but retired jerseys should be sacred. Just my humble opinion.

Personally, I think that his jersey should be unofficially retired but not officially. No doubt he was a good player and probably a better man, who died before he should've but that doesnt imo warrent retiring his number...

SkinsFan, I Ain't DIsrespecting Him. I Had Respect For Him, And For What He Did. I Just Think This Thread Is A Little Outrageous. We All Know They Won't Retire It, And We Know Nobody Is Ever Going To Be #21 On The Skins, Or At Least For A Long Time.
