Patriots @ Cowboys
We need a thread for this one. Let's quit highjacking the other threads and bring all the talk here. By the way if anyone is going hit me up. We have 2 red pass' and are going to throw a huge tailgate party. Big screen with satilite food beer the works. Me and my buddy are going in with our season tickets while everyone else watches from the tailgate. It's gonna be the shiat.
Go COWBOYS... My prediction; Cowboys 27 Pats 24 on a Folke 53 yard field goal as time expires. ![]() |

Cowboys are big dogs early at home. The spread is 4.5 with an over/under of 52. As soon as the money lines are up dated I will load it on vBookie.

This is going to be the game of the season - forget Colts/Pats on Nov 14th, it's all going to come down to this game...
With Dallas realling from a close one in Buffalo, they'll take this as a call to action and come prepared for what you know will be the best Bills-imitation the Patriots can muster on defense. They should expect to see the "creep" and all kinds of zone blitzing and so forth, and don't be suprised if we see 2 LB's assigned to Witten. This game will revolve around Romo, once again, and his ability to decipher and execute. On the other side of the ball, Newman and Hamlin will double team on Moss, looking to shutdown the deep threat similar to what the Browns did. On the other side of the ball, Reeves will have his hands full with Stallworth and James/Ayodele will look to try to keep Ben Watson under wraps. However, this is going to come down to our front line getting in Brady's face, knocking him down, beating him up, and getting in his head. If we let Brady sit there for 7-10 seconds, he's going to tear us apart - I don't care if we triple team every WR, he'll find away to pick us apart - we have to get to Brady, for as Brady falls, so will the Pats. I see this game being an offensive explosion, similar to what we saw in Week 1 vs. the Giants. I'd expect a score of 45-50pts from each team, with the deciding factor being less then 7 points. Final Score: Patriots 49 - Dallas 52 with Nick Folk nailing a 58yd FG as the clock hits 0 to send the Patriots packing (yes I realize I'm not being very original, but I'm sticking with this call) |

Ok I was being sarcastic about Folk winning back to back games with a 50+ yard field goal, but I think it will have to be a much lower scoring game than your prediction for us to win. I don't see us beating the Pats in a shoot out, they are too good. We need to keep them from scoring less than 5 TDs to win this game. I just don't see that D giving up much more than 30 points.

Our D has been playing better and better and they haven't given up an offensive TD in the last two games, or even the last 9 quarters. That is a hell of a defensive effort given the injuries we have. The same cannot be said for the Patriots defense. I don't see the 4.5 dog justified, I think at best this is an even spread given we are at home. It'll be a close game, decided by 3 points or less.

Looks like I was right... man I should run a book... the line moved up to 5 already and the over/under responded moving up to 53. I bet that line is at least at 6 before Saturday. |

We'll play as underdogs, I'm fine with that. Romo has been an underdog from the start, as an undrafted free agent, and as a third stringer. But you know what look at the underdog now! I think we can easily be the Patriot's trap game, while they are looking forward to the Colts. We did it to the Colts last season @ Texas Stadium and we can do it on Sunday to the Pats. Colts last season looked unstoppable, like the Pats do now and we beat them. I agree this will be a tough game, but with our home crowd cheering I think we can pull it out.

All the Pats have to do is take away Romo's safety valve in Witten and this one should be in the bag. Romo is entirely too dependent on Witten as he always looks at him first before going thru his progressions. It's going to be fun watching Romo adjust to what the defense gives him in this matchup
I like the Pats by 13

Jay - I'd say that Witten is probably Romo's "safety valve", but he's not his first read. Depending on the play, it's usually TO, Cray, Witt, Barb/JJ.
The other problem for the Pats is that their LB's suck in coverage. All the picks they have (as LBs) have come off tipped balls by DB's (see the Seau endzone pick) where Seau was burned and a DB got his hand in at the last second. Unless, and even if, they put 2 LB's on Witten at all times, it'll be hard for them to cover him. That also means they're giving single coverage to TO and Crayton and possibly even forgetting about Hurd and Barbarian... This is a great matchup for both teams b/c both offenses are so jampacked with talent. If we double Moss, we leave Stall/Watson/Etc open... Either way, I stand by my prediction of it being one of the highest scoring games in NFL history. |

ehh... not really but Kinda... if that makes sense. The 3 point home field advantage is really more of a rule of thumb for how Vegas decides to open the odds. So if the "experts" think the Pats will win by a TD they might open it at 4 since Dallas is the home team. From there it just depends on how the money is laid. If they open at 4.5 and the bulk of the money is being laid on the Pats to cover then they are going to raise the line until the betting is a little more even. That's how they keep the pockets lined. So they open with a certain line it just depends on betting trends as far as where the lines ends up at kickoff.
