Not a bomb, but a TD.

BUMS!!! ALL OF YOU!!!

lol......You don't know when he gets burned regardless...so anytime you see Roy running towards someone catching the ball it counts as getting burned?

Let's try the whole defense got burned for 60 minutes.....except when Plaxico fell down.

Are you really defending his horrible pass coverage? Yeah, Jacques Reeves sucks and did a horrible job all game, but Roy Williams on that first bomb blew coverage. He bought the play action and was out of the play.

Because Madden says so? lol....It's whatever I don't much or less care...Henry, Watkins and Hamlin all got torched the whole game. You honestly expect Roy to run downfield with Plaxico when Plax is at full speed cause there's no jam....since Reeves was lined up as deep as the safety all night?

If you do expect that prepared to be dissapointed by ALL the safetys.

Dude, Roy Williams is a good player. But his specialty is against the run.

He's not exactly a stellar safety in pass coverage. Just accept that.

And by the way; Troy, TC and MS72 are ALL Cowboys fans (though Troy likes the Browns too), so you're not exactly talking to people biased against Dallas.

I like Roy. He's a great player, but when it comes to covering the pass, he might be the worst safety in the NFL.

Might as well run with Roy in the box all the time, and have him around to blitz and run cover.

Yup. He's probably the most literal, by-the-book definition of Strong Safety in history. He's more like a smallish rover, actually, which is basically how he dominated in Oklahoma.

And....

Finally, we all know who the real Roy Williams is.

He wears #11 for the Detroit Lions.

Madden? We're talking a problem that's been going on since 2005. I noted a number of times last year that Williams was getting burned a lot on deep routes. The Saints had a lot of fun throwing right at Williams.

I am. But Roy is the leader, the veteran, the highest paid, and the star. I hold him to a higher standard. I have greater expectations. Getting burned for a long TD at least once a game isn't acceptable to me. When it happens once, it is a mistake. When it happens repeatedly, it's a problem.

I can't. I refuse to lower the bar for a Pro Bowler that is the highest paid at his position. This isn't college anymore. NFL strong safeties have to be able to cover people. He has to be able to contribute to the pass defense part of the game. It's a bad sign that teams are now picking on him.

Well, my post was really meant for the other guy; what I meant was that he shouldn't overrate Williams just because he's a huge fan, and that he needs to see his faults, the main one of which is pass coverage.

As for the issue itself...does anyone have any theories for Williams' porous pass coverage ability? Does he just not think the game well in terms of passing? Because he certainly has the physical skills needed in pass coverage.

I honestly wonder if he has poor depth perception. I don't know. He's terrible at tracking the ball and the player. Last year, he had a couple ugly pass interference plays where he just ran into recievers while trying to find the ball.

This is not meant in any ill will, and I warn you this may seem a bit harsh:

Don't we all just love a "fan" who picks apart a player on his own team? I know I do . Come on man, just support your team despite the deficiencies, as a Cowboys fan you know what ur getting from Roy. You can't sit here an whine that he gives up big passing plays, because you know this is what he does and you whining doesn't fix that. You as a fan can never fix it, but you can watch go "oh sh*t" every now and then, and then enjoy Romo burning the opposing defense. Seriously man just up-shut with the whining and just enjoy the ride, or are you one of those fans who likes to cover his buttocks with these early rants in order to say "see i told ya earlier, i wasn't fully on the band wagon." IN OR OUT choose; if you stay just keep your mouth shut, else get off and stay off because you can't have one foot in and one foot out.
