The Eagles first pick makes absolutely no sense to me

They just extended A.J. Feeley to a 2 year deal, traded for Kelly Holcomb from Buffalo and had Mcnabb returning this season and they draft a QB? It's way to early to start think about the Future in regards to the Starting QB posiion since Mcnabb is only 30 years old. Now if he was 35 or 36 then I can see drafting a QB but I can just see the Philly Sports Media crticizing the Eagles First Pick all day tomorrow.

I agree, I had to scratch my head when they made this pick. They are already loaded at QB, why take another one

Well the pick means that Kelly Holcomb will be cut. I didn't know Holcomb was a ADD ON when they received Takeo Spikes. Well by the way they drafted I guess he was

Good. I hope Detroit signs him to a one year deal as insurance for Kitna.

God, I can't believe I just said that.

This move makes no sense at all. Not only was drafting a QB not wise but Kolb??? Watching game film of him you can see that he's nothing more than a typical College, system Qaurterback. Not a good pick at all.

Kolb is one of them QBs who like to try the Vick style. He is a decent QB and I don't see him being anything other than a lifetime backup. I don't understand why they need to draft a backup, but seriously I don't mind that hey just wasted a pick.

Trust me that little footage doesn't do Kolb justice. Basically the Eagles had Kolb as the highest rated QB on their board and saw it as an opportunity to grab him while they could. Coming from someone who saw most of his snaps, Kolb is going to be a great QB in the league. He throws well on the run, very mobile and an above average arm. I think the Eagles saw a gem in Kolb and decided to draft their longtime future. It’s always refreshing to see a team do their homework and not always go after the “sexy pick”

He will run a very good west coast offense which is what Philly has. I would be willing to bet that if McNabb went down half way through this season Kolb would come in over Feely. This offense favors him heavily.

I dont know Goose, Feely is already a proven commodity within this organization. Remember a few years back when McNabb went down, Feely came in and showed great poise, and a nice arm (While going 5 -1). Feely is a prototypical NFL QB. Kolb at best is a project QB with no better than career back up possibiltys.

As a Cowboys fan, I'm ecstatic with the pick...

As a Football fan, I'm disgusted by the Eagles organization

What, that I'm disgusted that a team that just resigned their bakcup QB to a 2 year deal and has a ProBowl Caliber QB who's only 30 would use their 1st pick of the 2007 NFL Draft on nothing other then a QB when they have 6 or 7 OTHER needs? I don't think that's inciteful at all, but if you do, I'm open to hearing why...

umm..we need people to play. obviously mcnabb is injury prone, it may be a little weird they let garcia go with out negotiations, but hey..this is the nfl. he knew from the get we were using him as a perminent backup anyway..and you know he really wasnt gonna take a significant pay cut with what we were gonna prb offer, and relative to what he knew he was gonna be able to command on the open market this year.

i wasnt refering to the eagles being inciteful for using their pick the way they did...to answer your question, i dont think your original comment about you being discusted with the eagles was incitful at all..hence, i was being sarcastic, saying you were being so incitful because you said how discusted you were with the eagles organization with no explination. my last post warrented one of these guys:
but i was too lazy to put it down.

so they spent their first pick on a QB. apparently they had kolb rated above Quinn in the category of QBs...imagine that. tom Brady was drafted in what? the 6th rd? eagles saw kolb as a diamond in the rough and took him before he was snagged by someone else. and they only snatched up 3 draft picks from the boys for one...so thats 2 more chances at haveing some other unoticed talent in camp this year. who would want that? discusting! did you perhaps see any of their other picks this year? im not saying we did an outstanding job drafting this year, but we did decent with what we had. we potentially have a couple people who are gonna fill holes, and more people on our nfl roster already who know now that theyre gonna have to play hard and practice hard before the season in order to keep their job!

far from discusting.

Alright fellow Cowboy fans, watch out for Kolb should he get the opportunity to play. I don't think this pick was a reach... there were people that had him projected as the 3rd or 4th best QB in the draft. Philly took the guy the felt was right for the pick. Feely is a career back up guy he can't take over and be a starter, they feel Kolb may be able to do that in 2 maybe 3 years. I say good pick.
