Dallas Cowboys Could the Cowboys draft a leg?

Looking back on last season, what was one of the biggest issues other than pass defense? That would be our kicking game. Our kickoffs were consistently short and our FG percentage was not all that great. Could we possibly draft a kicker in the draft? I know not many people talk of drafting a kicker but for the Cowboys it is a semi-need position. The best prospect out there right now is Mason Crosby, he has a rocket for a leg and can hit from 60+ yards out easily. Accuracy-wise he is pretty good and some say he even warrants a 2-3 round pick. If he falls to the 3rd round I wouldn't mind us picking him up to solidify our kicking game.

O BTW Peter Schrager of FOX Sports has Crosby going to the Cowboys in the 4th round.

I'd really like too see us draft a kicker. I can't even remember the last time we were anything better than average at that position.

That's not even the best kicker, that cat out of UCLA is better from what I've seen... and to be honest I wouldn't care if we went after him in the 3rd just to ensure we address this issue.

Justin Medlock is his name and they project him to go early in the fourth

Justin Medlock is one hell of a kicker probably the best College kicker since Sebastian Janikowski was at FSU. If the Boys did draft in the third i think it would be justifiable.

We will not be drafting Justin Medlock, b/c of this:
ESPN.com: NFL - NFLDraftTracker

Character issues and run ins with the law are prbly not gonna be drafted by Jerry. He said this himself in an interview. Additionally I understand it is DUI and what not, but Jared Allen was also suspended for the first 4 games of the upcoming season. I don't see us taking a chance with this guy. Another reason y we will not draft him, look at his numbers. Long FG is only 51 yds compared to Crosby's 60-65 yds. If we decide to draft a kicker it'll be Crosby. We need a solid kicker, but iono if Jerry is gonna sink some money in a rookie kicker. Crossing my fingers.

Crosby kicked in Colorado... that air is a hell of a lot thinner than our 90% humidity down here in Dallas. Either way I'd be ok with them spending a 3rd on a good kicker... I am by no means saying Crosby sucks or isn't worth a 3rd, I just think he gets some bennifet kicking in CO

The kicker picked is Nick Folk out of Arizona. The bio on him has him as a better PK than a Punter as is very accurate within 40 yards. Hopefully he can get some more strength in the leg to be able to nail the long ones, but hell, if he can be consistent I'll be happy after watching the 'wide left' legs of the past 10 years.

I honestly don't know that much about him, but I don't like the big leg of the guy out of Colorado still on the board when we made Folk the pick.
