Vick and the Eagles

Eagles intrigued by Vick, plan to keep backup QB for 2010 season

We shall see what happens this offseason, I can't help but think that they'll deal him away somehow. I think that they just don't want to let people know that they're in the hunt this offseason... That being said, it's been hinted at that McNabb is done in Philly (that's been said before for years now). But now with Kolbe and Vick there, and with Vick saying that he wants to be a starter I'm saying it again... McNabb leaves, the Eagles get a few picks for Vick and Kolbe gets the start... If they don't get what they want for Vick, they'll keep him and let him start... Any ideas?

Speaking as a die hard Eagles fan, they've been saying McNabb is leaving every year they don't win the Super Bowl...so 2 things, I dont personally feel like it's ever his fault and he aint goin nowhere cuz Andy Reid believes in him too much. Now I would keep Vick, send McNabb to Buffalo or somethin, trade Kolb for some draft picks, but that would make too much sense, so the Eagles will probably keep all 3 and pay them a ton of money for absolutely no reason.

True, but from what happened last year (removing aditional years from his contract), PLUS McNabb saying he will not resign with the Eagles this offseason... I think he's gone, and Eagles fans will be left to see what it's like with a new QB... If I'm a GM, I'm keeping Kolb, he's only like 26 (?) and Vick is getting to be in his 30s... So I'm still keeping the thought that Vick is going to be traded, but they can't say that they want to get rid of him or his value drops... So they say they want to keep him. If they DO keep Vick, I can see that becoming an issue as he's been very up front about wanting to be a starter somewhere in the league and there are a TON of teams that will pay to get him... So, once the big three QBs are gone, and if none of the teams that are in the hunt for a QB this offseason land one, Vick gets sent away for a few picks...

I say trade Kolb and McNabb for some picks and keep Vick, but Kolbs good too, regardless, they should trade McNabb, he's 34 and if he still has value on the market take whatever you can get for him while you still can.

There's no trade for McNabb, he restructured his deal so that THIS was his last season... He's gone for NOTHING!!! Which is sad beacuse they could have gotten something for him any of the past 4 years or so... He will be missed more then the fans in Philly could ever believe. With Westbrook nearly done, if not already done this year, and McNabb leaving, it will be an entierly new team next year...

Yeah everybody wants to chuck McNabb under the bus if we don't demolish somebody in the super bowl, but the ppl n Philly will miss him when he's gone.

I think if the Eagles get rid of McNabb and Kolb and keep Vick as the starter they will be very lucky to win 7 games... Vick is NOT a starter anymore. If the Eagles cant win the SB with one of the best in the league then there is no way they win with Vick... with Kolb I think they can make the playoffs but it will be a long time before they win a SB with him.

Judging from what Vick has been saying the last few weeks, it doesn't seem he wants to be in Philly next year unless he's starting.

That's my point... He's hurting himself as well though, by opening his mouth at this time. He should just sit still and keep mum about the whole thing from now on so that the team can get a good trade out of it and he can get another job...

But he won't, cuz he's desperate to get a starting job right now, if he doesn't get one now (as in the next 2 years or so) he never will, we gotta remember that Michael Vick aged just like everyone else while in prison. I think he's still got some great years left, but there aren't gonna be a lot of teams willing to gamble on a 33 year old who has been a backup for 3 years after being in prison for 2.

To keep him wouldn't be a smar thing since he's only got one more year on his contract as is... And if they mess with him, he's gone for sure. Don't forget, that although he'll be 32 next year, those two years he spent away, in all reality, probably did him some good, so he's not going to be your typical 3o something guy. He looked good this year, physically I mean. And again, given his contract, I don't see them keeping him any longer then they have too... But that's just me.

I agree, but, him running his mouth and making excuses for "not giving it all" in Atlanta and, basically, "threatening" the only team willing to take a chance on him, isn't exactly going to win him any points with GMs and coaches in the league.

He should grateful that he is even getting a paycheck.

Well he never really made any excuses about Atlanta, I think that's just a chapter he's moving past really... But the rest is fine. He is kind of saying that they better trade him or else. The irony is that with him talking, it lessens the chance that this will happen right away... But he's by no mean being a TO or anything, it's not to the point of threats or even really acting up... He's been calm, but he's spoken his mind.

All the comments he made in the last couple of days in regards to his time in Atlanta is chock full of excuses.
