I almost posted this in another thread in this forum, but I didn't want to highjack it so I started my own. I swear this is not a shot at Eagles fans because I hate them (which I do). My buddy and I were talking about QBs underrated and overrated, and we both agreed McNabb is probably the 2nd best QB in the league... which started me down another road. How is it that team was as good as it was and only made it to one SB? Seriously, they were by far the class of the NFC and lost in NFC title games that should have easily been won! When does the blame fall on Andy... I hear everyone blame McNabb and I think that's insane, I'd trade Romo, JJ, and Roy Williams for him. How has Reid pulled the wool over everyones eyes for so long now. My theroy... again not trying to take a cheap shot here this is my honest opinion... is that because they were the dogs of the division for so long the fans are happy with NFC title appearances, and over look the fact that they should have gone to 4 straight SBs.

I'd be interested in hearing the opinions of Eagles fans, I know yall believe you should have won those title games, and consiquently at least one SB. Who's fault is it? McNabb? Reid?

I wouldn't say Andy Reid is anywhere close to the most ovverated coach in the league. When you look at the Eagle teams that went to the NFC Championships they had holes everywhere on the Offensive side, No recievers, a lack of a true RB, injuries on the O-line. IMHO Reid has gotten great play from an overacheiving group.

Andy is the ****..hes awesome.. he puts together a great team every year that is always competing for the #1 spot in the NFC east..he drafts well..he makes great team decisions durring the season and in the offseason... he is committed and focused (and doesnt leave the team in the mudd with distractions (i.e. his family)).. and he is by far the coach i want to have for my team. he has built a strong relationship with a lot of the players including the one that ultimatly makes decisions on the feild in the don... he has strong relationships with the coordinators in jimmy and marty.. and he knows his team well, and puts them in the best environment to win that he can. i could go on and on about how much i like andy and what he does for this team...

no way is nearly the most overratted coach in the league

I disagree... Look at the "holes" in the Eagles teams that lost and then look at those same posistions on the teams that they lost to.

I'd take TO over Branch and Westbrook over Dillion
I'd take Westbrook over Davis (carolina had much better WRs that year although Smith hadn't really emerge as the force he is now yet)
I'd defintly take Staley in 2002 over Pittman in 2002 and Tampa had Brad Freak'n Johnson running that offense.

You guys should have won that SB, should have beat Carolina, and should have destroyed Tampa.

and as far as him being a coach are you saying he made bad play calls? ?? im sry, im just not really sure what your saying hes not good at?? the players should have been able to get it done...agreed...but i dont think that was all andy. andy and don are obviously ultiamtely to blame though for the loses of course..the coach and quarterback allways get all the glory, and always get all the blame..no way around that.

in respose to the examples:
i dont think id describe these players holes on the roster..i call a hole in the roster a place where you need improvement...your arguing that we were much stronger at individual positions than the teams we competed against. I'd prob call that a breakdown of key positions..but with that said..the positions u listed were key for us (for the most part)..not nessicarily the other team.

*note- westy at the time wasnt the force he was considered at the end of this past year.

I was answering ducks post previous to yours about them losing because of holes at RB and WR.

And the year Westy wasn't yet a force you had Staley and Buck with considerable carries and yards that season.

Again I just think you guys love him because he took that franchise from the bottom to the top of the division... my contention is that it should have been the top of the league those years. He gets all the glory and none of the blame, and i think he deserves more of the blame.

hmm.. i see. i dont know.. i think he should be accountable for where the Eagles are as comparison to what they were without him, like you say. if you want to say im overly in love with what he has done then sobeit..not a bad thing to me. five out of eight years reid has gotten 1st in the NFC East. 88-54-0 overall record. five aint bad for a 8 year coaching vet. you can say, "ya but he didnt win the superbowl".. and you can go as far as saying, "he didnt make it to the superbowl as many times as he should of"...and i certainly wont disagree. we should be there every year as far as im concerned.

not sure why your looking for someone to blame though. anyone could say the same thing about a lot of teams. philly gets so much garbage year to year.. dont see why people just dish on "overrated chokers" a lot. i have one or two players from the past seasons playoffs in mind who could have been classified as an "overrated choker". but, seriously tho, we should have made it and won it more often in his tenure. i dont see why next year we will have any less of a chance. and for the record, your thread has been more coplimenting than garbage in many ways with regards to the crap that philly fans had to hear consistantly for years now.


imo, i think hes a great coach, and philly and their fans appreciate him for doing what he has done in the time he had given to him. I hope his family issues have been as well as possible for him too btw.

i think hes a little overrated but not the most overrated coach in the league but if they don't make or win a SB in the next year or two he'll be gone

I agree, he is a bit overrated, but a decent coach in his own right. He does some stupid stuff like in the end of the saints/eags playoff game of last year not going for it on 4th(albeit it woulda been longer, but they made the first the play before.) But I also believe a lot of the eagles problems lie with mcnabb.

You know I was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about a subject that is the direct reason I started this thread. So I would like to appologize to all Eagles fans... I gave you this thread from a Cowboy fans perscpective. We see things through our Cowboy glasses, if he would have dominated the NFC and lost in 3 championship games here we would have thrown him to the wolves... but as I look back in Cowboy's history before we got as spoiled as we are now, Landry had the same problem. We lost championships we should have won. It is hard for us/me to understand how you lose those games and not fire the coach, because the Bar is that high in Dallas and it's what we expect. But any coach that wins as many games as Reid has can not be labeled overrated.

Most overratd coach in Football is parcells. He's still riding a Super Bowl win that happened over 15 years ago

Yea Parcells is pretty overrated. What did he do for the Cowboys? He got two QBs that were older and slower than him. Somone else who is overrated is Mike Ditka. YEA I SAID IT!!! Buddy Ryan made that defense and all the offense had to do was give it to #34 and he did the rest. When he went to the Saints that might heve been the darkest day in team history. He was a freakin joke. He traded pretty much the whole draft to get Ricky freakin Williams. I HATE RICKY WILLIAMS!!! And guess what happened as soon as he left the Saints won a playoff game. Ditka is sorry
