This is the first time I've ever heard that.

Every list I saw had Steinbach and Dielman ahead of him. He was, at best, the third best lineman in a weak free agency class. Look at it this way: with Davis in and Rivera probably out, is the line really any better?

Hmmm, I haven't read up on it since we signed him but everything I read had him the top OL... mainly because he could be plugged in anywhere. And it may not have got better, but what was the alternative just let rivera retire and have nothing at all? I think Jerry did what he could this year (I still think we should have gone after Hutchenson last year) but I think he addressed a need with the best option available... now lets see what we do in the draft.

I also think the O-line played a lot better after inputting Romo into the starting lineup. But we do need more depth on the Line. I think we can go out and get a pretty good lineman in the draft, which is what I would do.

From what the experts say, there were two better options out there, and both signed for less. It's great that the guy can be average at every position, but I'd rather have a guy that is great at one.

I am glad they found someone to replace Rivera, but I'm not too excited that things will be better. Our only hopes are that the line plays better just by being together another year.

I also worry about someone who hasn't seemed to be overly motivated to suddenly have that drive after signing a long term contract

I think he was homesick to tell the truth, he missed Texas, and this could really rejuvinate his career.

Steinbach would have been a good pick up, but Dielman wanted to stay in San Diego so after Steinbach, Davis was the next best choice. I think the one year deal is a good move by Jerry b/c look at what Gurode did last year on a one year contract: Pro Bowl, strong year, and a big fat contract. Hamlin will work his but off this year and who knows: Pro Bowl, strong year, and a big fat contract? He did say that he would love to play and end his career in that new stadium of ours, hopefully wearing a star on his helmet. I think this was a great pick up, should make one of the top safety tandems in the league, both Roy Williams and Ken Hamlin are hard hitters, I can already see opposing WR cringing attempting to catch the ball. Solid move on a solid player. Here comes an exciting season in football for the "chicken-fried" nation (DFW Randy Galloway reference).

Iono I think he's kind of funny. True he has some stupid moments where he doesn't know what he's talking about, but everyone who talks sports have those. Anyways, Hamlin signing good move, look for a solid defense next year under the new regime of Wade Phillips.
