The Giants' second pre-season game is tonight at 8 PM on FOX (assuming you're in the area), they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
Feel free to post any thoughts, feelings, and groans about second-stringers about the game here.

I watched the beginning of the game. The first team offense looked good. Then again, it was the KC defense.
On the other side of the ball, it's good to see the defense shut down the run. Yeah I know it's only preseason but they held LJ to just 8 yards on 4 carries. How many people out there love Jared Lorenzen. J-Lo!!!! The guy's a hulk!

Things I noticed from last night (granted it's only preseason but...).
- Jacobs is running with more confidence than he did last season. - I like what I saw Jemison. - Antonio Pierce might the most indispensable guy on the defensive guy of the ball. - Good to see Manning and the O going out of the no-huddle in the second quarter. Something I would hope they do more of. - I wouldn't mind if both Rob Johnson and J-Lo take the place of Hasselbeck. - Kiwanuka is going to be a player. - If Tim Carter can stay healthy, that is another big weapon for Manning.

- I noticed last year that Eli performed well during the 2 minute drill. If they are able to run a no huddle most of the game then the defense won't be able to make as many good substitutions. -Hasselbeck is a BC guy. Now I know Coughlin likes BC guys but when there is a better player then the loyalty needs to be pushed aside. I'm big on J-Lo this year. I think he adds a whole other demention to short yardage situations. -Carter is a forgotten man in most circles. Not for me, however. He's a burner who gives Eli another deep threat. He was looking good last year before he sustained an early season injury. He will suprise some people this year.

That offense was moving, even when the backup offense was out there.
Rob Johnson could very well be Eli's backup QB. I like what I saw from him, as he was able to scramble out of bad situations and make some long throws. Jared Lorenzen and Matt Hasselbeck make up, what, one-half of an actual backup QB? A healthy Tim Carter and Antonio Pierce will only serve to make the Giants that much better this season. Here's to hoping for no injuries for those two! Shiancoe looked really good at tight end, as well. I think a few people are sleeping on him, but I think he's a servicable TE. Brandon Jacobs is only going to get better. But what's all this then about that failed jump at the goal line? Brandon, you're a big, power runner; you're the Blender. Just get your head down, hold onto the ball, and power through the D. Good thing you did that next. ![]()

That second preseason game was encouraging, after the lackluster first. I think it was much more indicative of what we're going to see this year...if we can stay healthy. For all TOGoon's ranting about how bad the Giants are and how they lost in the playoffs last year...perhaps if he had been watching football before the Cowboys signed T-Oh No, he would know that the Giants were down to third stringers on defense. A healthy team this year should be a good one, this year.
