what are the d-backs doing?

Could someone explain to me what the plan here could possibly be? Do we have anyone left? Are we trying to lose next year? Is there insurance on a losing team? I can't wrap my brain around this one. I am sure there is a reason for dumping our guys, someone has to know what it is.
