I don't think that Bush really had any, at least serious threats... Those opposed to him were all pot smoking hippy types... They likely forgot the threats right after they were made and went and bought some chips and hugged some trees... This is an entirely different situation, as sad as it is...

That being said, what Americans haven't figured out yet is a very simple fact... In your country government = Big Business (Big Pharma, Texas Oil, United Arms, ect.) Unfortunatly there hasn't really been a "people" oriented president since JFK, and we all saw how well that ended up... I have no idea just how much the American President makes on a yearly basis, but I can assure you that the profits made by Bush on the three above mentioned stocks he holds DWARF! what ever his annual earnings were as president... If you look at pretty much all of the candidates that have entered into the elections race in that past 20 or so years, they've all been big business men. Two reasons why this happens, 1. It takes money to make money, 2. It takes money to run for government... Basically, as has been the case in nearly all of the elected bodies in rencent history, their campains have all eneded up furthering their personal agendas... The last president who actuely did something for the average person in your country was Bill Clinton, and I personally don't believe that it was all his doing... Were in not for Hillary and her drive for health care and such endevours, if would have been business as usual... And you guys, on a whole, hated his administration...

Only time will tell if Obama has an agenda leading to some other business he currently runs, but until someone who doesn't have a DR in businees or political sciences gets into office, things are not really going to change. And if someone stands in the way of the status quo, they get shot, silenced or bought off (see Hillary Clinton's buy out for pretty much letting the HC issue go and signing legislation that would pretty much prevent any such endevours from ever comming to fruition)...

I'm just glad that things are done, between MLB and the campaigne trail my viewing schedule was all messed up... Ah well, back to sleep for me now...

Durring his campaing Obama has had several threats and even attempts on his life...

A link of interest...

YouTube - Eddie Murphy - First Black President

He didn't win Texas (or anywhere else in the South save for New Mex) and that should scare the hell out of his admin, familly, and voters...
he did win mississippi. had a closer race in georgia than most of the states.
in alabama it'll take a miracle to see it vote democrat again. we have all these "big money" republicans down here. they make $12 an hr & own 6 shares of walmart stock making them wallstreet tycoons.
here's the simple way for the republicans to have beaten obama. i wouldn't tell this before the election but i can tell it now. find somebody worth a damn to run against him & they have a chance to win. mccain is NOT the guy. being republican in the 80's & 90's was the in thing. it was cool i guess to say i'm a republican. add your name to their list & you got votes. now, after bush. after larry craig the idaho toe tapper.............. rush limbacker & his drug addicts should be in jail , except for him, republicans have lost their credibility & trust. they are respected & it's plain they have less morals than democrats which is what their new platform was about after clinton/ lewinsky crap came out.
if ol "Bill" could come back i'll hire him a good looking one this time. not an ugly worn out one like the republicans sent over there.
