Will any of these records ever be broken
Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hit streak.
UCLA's 88 straight wins. Cy Young's 511 wins. Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games. Wilt Chamberlain's 100 Point Game. Don Shula's 347 career NFL coaching wins. Nolan Ryan pitched a major league record 27 years with 5,714 strikeouts, 7 no hitters, 12 1 hitters, and 18 2 hitters. Rocky Marcino 49-0. Bill Russell's 13 rings.

i think another unbeatable record is gretzkys point amount...take away all the goals he scored and he still leads in points on assists alone! craziness

no... and to address Irish, someone will have to go undefeated through 49 fights? I don't see it. Look at the best boxers of our generation... Jones and Mayweather. Once they dominate thier weight class they start moving up until they lose. I'd say Mayweather has the best chance but he's only 33-0 right now. He still has to win 16 fights... more than likely all against either the top contender or reigning champ at a higher weight class. And he's already mulling retirement. I don't think it will ever happen.

Closest right now is Joe Calzaghe 43-0 he's fighting Mikkel Kessler 39-0 next month. The winner of that fight might do it but they have to retire undefeated.

Realistically, no. The only one with any sort of chance is the 56 game hitting streak, even though it would be considered the TOUGHEST to achieve. There's nowhere near the longevity required in sports anymore for any of the other ones.

College basketball is so volatile, depends heavily on good recruiting, and there is always the human element. I don't think UCLA's record will ever be broken.

I know the non-hockey people won't know this one too well, but Glenn Hall's consecutive games in goal streak is one of the most completely ridiculous records in sports.
There is literally a zero percent chance of that ever being broken.

Dimaggio`s hit steak can be broken. Moises Alou had 27 consecutive games hitting before the season ended

Quote:
After finishing his junior years playing for the Humboldt Indians and the Windsor Spitfires, he signed with the Detroit Red Wings. The first few years of his NHL career were spent playing in Detroit's minor system. He finally made the Detroit Red Wings lineup as their starting goalie in the 1954-55 season, displacing the great Terry Sawchuk. Hall played in every game of his first full season with the Red Wings, recording twelve shutouts, and winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year. During his second full season with Detroit, he again played every single game, but at season's end, found himself traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. Hall continued his stellar play in the Windy City, playing every single regular-season game as well as every playoff game. As his consecutive game streak continued, his legend grew with it. In 1961, Hall backstopped the Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup championship since 1938. On November 8, 1962, the record streak finally came to an end against the Boston Bruins; Hall had back problems. Hall managed to play 502 consecutive games, which spanned eight seasons, a NHL record that will probably never be broken |

that doesn't even put him halfway though. 56 games is just incredibly staggering. Only once has the record even been reasonably approached and even then it was not all that close.
